You can claim that it's jealousy on how I used to be the member with the third highest rep for months, and the closest person to me in rep had at least 300 points less than me, and then all of a sudden, most everyone has a light green bar now. So while originally, it was intended to be used as a way to gauge how helpful a person is (and if derepping was still implemented, how negative the community felt of the person), and even then, it wasn't exactly that useful. Because you have less than -9999 rep. You need -9999 or more rep points to have that title.

Right. -2147483249 is less than -9999. You need -9999 or
more, meaning like -9999, -9998, -9997, etc.
