Something about thinking about literature at a high level. What does this mean? Ive always gotten Cs or less in my english classes, except for the honors library practicum class and any class ive had with my favorite english teacher.
Still, i dont get it, all i did was mess around with the prompt until i figured out a way i could talk about science fiction i recently read while still staying mostly on topic. (Orson Scott Cards' Enders game series, which ive read before but decided to read again)
Ive always thought i was creative with my writing and love literature and reading, but making video games requires more than just being able to write the storyline. Im going computer science! Mostly programming. Actually, i dont particularly care about the degree, as long as i learn how to make games. The last time i told someone that though, they laughed at me, so i say computer science. And then ignore people asking me why im taking drawing classes that won't go to my degree program.

Oh damn. Looks like we're aiming for the same thing. Go for it bro.
And really? English major. That'll get you a good, fun job in no time.

What kind of job does an English major even do? Occupy Wallstreet?
Just tell teacher thanks, and take it as a "compliment", I guess.

^lmao
Yeah...
And there's nothing weird about taking art classes while being interested in CS. Tell them you're into "interactive multimedia," I believe that's the technical term? xd

Same thing has been said to me. My aunt is a journalist herself, and she said it's a tough world out there. I went took computer science and electrical engineering as a major because I didn't really know what I wanted to do.

I wouldn't recommend taking a major anything Fine Arts to be honest. . . (Music, Literature, Art, etc)
Because it's really hard to find jobs with these majors, and in this economy I'm pretty sure there are even less jobs out there right now for these Fine Art graduates. What you could do is that if you don't have a high enough mark for university try getting into their Fine Arts program and switching out next year, that's what a lot of people I know are doing.
[S]And that's what I'm going to do too. [/S]
But if you like English Literature/Fine Arts you should pursue your dreams if that's what makes you happy, and hope to God you can land a job once you graduate. xD

Well, as much as i love literature what i really want to do is make games. I'm confident my writing will work for what i need it, and i will still be taking literature classes but i need to know computer programming to be able to put any of it to use.
Plus, messing around with computers is always fun and i already have taken 2 years of votech classes on computer repair and networking.
Still, it is very nice of my teacher to tell me that. I love writing and reading so it makes sense i guess.
Oh, i thought about sending this back to my teacher in response, as a joke sorta, but decided it would be mean. Its a joke i know, but from what everyone is saying there's some truth in it at least.

Do what you have a passion for.
A lot of people focus on just getting money and don't end up happy.

Sounds like you're a magnificent writer. However I would think about doing a minor in English rather than a major, the only reason I say that is 1. you don't sound super sure whether you want to major or not and 2. Let's face it, the economy sucks. It's even difficult to pursue a teaching career.
But if you do major in it, right on. But I would look at some options first.
