Help!
I need help choosing parts for a computer. I don't know much about computers or how to build them, so i really need some good advice. I don't know what features i should look out for on parts, and things like that. My budget is under $600, i don't know what that can get me, but thats my limit. I would like this computer to focus more on gaming also. And if anyone knows any stores i probably have near me that sell computer parts, that would be helpful. :fail3:
Thanks in advance!

Making it that cheap was very challenging. None of the part's on there I'd actually recommend but for under 600$ (I tried to make it closer to 500$ to account for taxes) I don't know how much better you'll get. Maybe someone whose more familiar with AMD products can make one even cheaper but I don't touch AMD CPUs.

Some of the parts on there I never used myself, especially the graphic card, but it should be decent for lower end games like vindictus quality stuff.. Save some money by reusing your old case.

Alright, thanks! Also, if im following this video-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls&feature=relmfu
should the set up be relatively similar? This is my first time building a computer, so im counting on being able to follow this video, or get help from someone here on nation.
So, thank you so much! Ill probably order all this tomorrow, after i show it to my dad.

Windows 7 costs an extra $100 on top of that. Might wanna consider getting the slower and cheaper
Intel G620 CPU instead.
EDIT: Also, doesn't that motherboard already include 2 SATA cables? I don't think there's a need to buy a separate one, so you can save a bit there. Just keep in mind that you will need to buy one when you'll decide you wanna add another hard drive.

That video should be fine.

If he's recycling his case and already has W7, free license sticker on there if it's OEM, or if it's a retail then no trouble.

Well, i'm started to get kinda confused lol, but i dont already have windows 7. The computer i have now is windows Vista. And i'm not sure about re-using the case i have now, i think my parents wanted to take this computer for family use, so i might have to buy a cheap case off of newegg. I dont know if there's anything special i need in a case though, so will it be fine if i just buy a cheap computer case that i think looks nice?

Does it matter if the power supply is top or bottom?

...
Actually I'm writing the reply to your PM right now. Should I edit out the obvious and post it up here? XD

Doesn't matter. Most cases mount it at the top, with some newer/fancier cases mounting it on the bottom. There isn't really much of a difference for you to care about. And it looks like you'll have to buy a
Win 7 license, then. Unless you're a college student, in which case you could possibly get it for free through MSDNAA if you qualify, or for a discount at the school store.
And to the above.. if you're suggesting he pirate copy of the OS, I would advise against it.

Actually, I see Osay helped you just fine. NVM then. :/

I did this. Upgraded from Windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I'm somewhat more familiar with AMD, as far as the Athalon and Phenom processors go. I have one of these.

Which is slightly faster (one extra 0.1 GHz!), and is a quad-core, for the same exact price. Only thing is that it's outdated now. XD

That case has no rear fan. You'd have to buy one yourself, adding to the cost. Look for a better one. :p

I think this is the first time I've ever seen a computer case listed for $20. o_O
I'm using one of these.

I love it EXCEPT avoid the audio jacks. Broke my earbuds when I tried to plug something into it.
