Rage, hysteria, hallucination.
Stubbornness, compulsion, tyranny.
Neglect, burden, sadness.
Cynicism, egocentrism, mockery.

The true purpose of this thread is to discuss the social and psychological dimensions of these "expressions" of the internet. Really, these caricatures have meaning in the context of the internet but they reflect something deeper, something related to human nature.

Also, why don't we have the opposite of these? Like an image of someone being nice or affectionate?

They're called rage faces for a reason. People just use them in rage comics to express displeasure about something.

I'm not asking why they are called that way. I want to know why the Internet is filled with rage and displeasure, or why it is common to observe such expressions.

I think it's because like, it's easier to make something funny if it's someone else suffering. We get some sort of pleasure from seeing other's misfortunes, but as soon as it happens to us, not so great.

Not quite something you made clear in the OP.

The Internet is a great place to voice displeasure in complete anonymity without facing the consequences, e.g. snitching or destroying relationships. People sometimes need to vent, so where better to do that than the Internet?

Yes, I can see that. So these are repressed feelings? Does it have anything to do with the demographics: age, gender, etc.? Maybe I'm looking at the tip of the iceberg since my environment or what I can see and appreciate from the Internet comes more often that not, from young males?

I learned about the feeling better about other people's misfortunes thing, I sorta forget how the lesson went which is a shame since I wish I could contribute more to this.

Textbook Anthropology answer: As humans are naturally polygynous animals and human females are the higher-investing sex, human males usually will actively seek out females instead of the other way around. Adolescent males are generally not as developed as adult males both physically and financially, and thus, they have less chances of obtaining a girlfriend/wife compared to adult males. As females will spend time being courted by males, they will have less time to spend elsewhere, including the Internet. That would be why there seem to be more rage comics and the like from young males than other demographic groups.

tl;dr women are occupied with men and have less time to make rage comics, so there are less rage comics made by women on the Internet

when a person tells about bad things that happened in his or her life on the internet, people will reply "lol" or pity him or her.

internet just isn't a place to express happiness. Most people go to their family or friends for that.

Try going up to a random stranger from the street and express happiness about recent accomplishment... It's going to become awkward. That's pretty much same thing with internet.
