Big update is coming

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

The Terraria forums use of that software has left a bad taste in my mouth, but from what I've seen it just seems they don't have anybody that knows how to manage forum software (they can't even fix a damned login timer issue), I'm more at ease knowing that it'll be worked on like this current software was since you show an actual understanding of what you're doing.

It'll take some getting used to (especially the PM system), but eh. It'll be good to shed an old codebase.

Since you have to rework the shop does that mean everything that is related to the shop will be temporarily disabled/deleted like the pets and gold?

Pets probably, but I'm not worried about pets. I want to make a better system for that which would require them to be deleted anyways.
Gold should be transferred over same as posts and stuff.

I'm pretty apprehensive about the switch to be honest, but I have faith in Osay. If it were anyone else... not so much.

Pretty much what I'm thinking.

vBulletin is the comfort zone for me. And every example of xenforo I've seen used online has made me very angry :/

But I trust Osay to do a good job with it.

Yeah... I've always liked vB. I don't even particularly like when the majority of forums switched to IPB because it was "better." I still don't like IPB, and its PM system still sucks ass compared to the current vB one we have atm. So, any change at all from vB makes me apprehensive, but... when it's not even something like IPB, but some obscure thing hardly known at all, and... with underwhelming examples that I've been able to find... seems worrying. The forum pages did seem to load really fast for me on the ones I tried, like instant. But... the layouts... wasn't too much a fan of those. Didn't bother registering on any, so I dunno what posting and whatnot is like.

I do have faith in Osay though. Althoughhhhhhhhhhh.... I do kinda expect it to be more like a late Jan to late Feb sorta thing though. xD
