also is it normal for a baby deer to just collapse on the spot even when the mother is obviously on edge, maybe it was sick
I didn't see it collapse. :T If anything, Mama Deer prolly told Baby Deer to hide, so Baby Deer listened to Mama Deer and tried to blend in.
This wouldn't have happened if the pets' owners had kept them on their own property. The cat was walking in the street, even across it, and the dog was on the sidewalk. Just sayin'.

It could have collapsed, but I don't see anything wrong with a fawn that still has it's spots falling down. It's still a baby, so walking is still fairly new to it, especially transitioning from grass to pavement.

Watching it again, I see. My first thought was it got down into the ditch really quick so the mom could go attack the dog. :/

Why would you do that? It was protecting its baby, if you were to do anything is to scare it, or to get the dog and cat back to their houses.

But you could stop the situation without it getting to that extreme, the fact is that whole thing could have been avoided if the people were not so dumb and recording instead of trying to get the cat away from the baby deer.

Deer went after a dog 10~20 feet away. This deer was on a rampage regardless. Shouldn't have left its baby alone in the first place and besides it will make this deer stop going into populated areas where it could get hit by a car, etc.

No, a large dog 10-20 feet away is a potential threat to its baby, protecting its baby does not equal going on a rampage.

Again, all of that could have been avoided if owners had kept their pets on their own property.

Deer always leave their babies alone. It's necessary to go get food. In fact, many animals do that. That's the point of baby camouflage (in this case, the baby deer's spots...though totally useless on a road :P)
