I can't help but notice that item descriptions for certain pieces of equipment aren't reliable at all.
Ring of the eight legged
A ring inset with a spider gem. Rumor has it that whoever wears this ring will never be defeated.
First of all, you need
three spider gems, not just "a spider gem". And, I'm pretty sure I have been defeated even when I was wearing it.
Lionoteeth
A battle scythe made with Lionotus's teeth. Every time you cut something with this serrated blade, it feels like you're chewing on bread.
Wow colru must be made out of some really tough bread.
Silence
The sword's name is a wordless warning to aggressors: better to leave in silence than to invoke the sword wielder's wrath. The name also stems from the eternal silence the sword forces upon opponents.
I'm pretty sure that Glas is not afraid of all those 8k atk people wielding this mighty weapon.
Holy Defender
A sword known to protect the owner with holy power.
It is said that if the owner is attacked by an unbeatable foe, the blade will shatter and strike the enemy, sacrificing itself to save its wielder.
I don't want my 8 mil sword blowing up just because some monster is wearing the Ring of the Eight Legged.

There are many meanings to the term defeat, for one it may be just losing in something, for others it may be absolute death. So take that into thinking.
The Lionoteeth thing is comparing it into how the Lion guy bites down on his enemies, soft as bread or something.
I am sure Glas cannot read what ever language the sword is in, nor is he aware of it.
And for the Holy Defender, it may be referring to something else and not the ring of the Eight legged.

There are a lot of these, they're so minor it's not really worth noting though.
One example would be Mad Grizzlepaw's Earring, which talks about wearing it to gain some effect. But player characters can never wear it.
I know one item (Boat 5 I believe) mentions something boosting Strength, but it's an Etc. item.

Black Hammer's (not controlled) blade bone thingy says "Wearing this grotesque thing increases ATT" but you can't wear it.

Right, that. How can I forget farming those things... ;-;
Either way, I appreciate the fact Nexon even bothers translating the flavour text. I find it fun to just read through everything once in a while.

The descriptions are there for the sake of lore. You should be able to find out what they're for by yourself. I think they're right in figuring anyone who decides to read most item descriptions is probably pretty interested in the lore of the game.

Where's the I really don't care option?
Stigma: A blanket of light surrounds this hammer. That light leaves an inconcealable scar upon opponents struck by it.
Those scars will never heal until the weapon is destroyed.
Seconded that option.
Long Blade Twin Spears: Twin spears that leave a permanent scar on the opponent with a glow that wraps around the long blades. An attack from these blades will leave the opponent weak and unable to dodge subsequent attacks.
Personally I think you're taking the item descriptions a little too seriously. The descriptions were to add a bit of spice to each and every object, instead of them being just generic fodder like in every other mmo.

If those spears actually did that, they'd be so broken.
Also they haven't edited the tailoring only clothing to say that they can be fused now, they still say they aren't synthesizable. That's probably the most important "incorrect" description currently.

This.
The item descriptions are just for the sake of lore, like another has stated earlier. No need to take the descriptions seriously.
An example is Mabinogi's Dragon Slasher.
A giant two-handed sword said to have been used to kill a Dragon with one blow. It is too heavy to be swung with ease, though its attack strength is as great as the name suggests.
Even though it says that, it's one of the worst 2-handed swords one can use.

"A helm imbued with an unknown energy. It is traded at a very high price because of the rumor that the wearer becomes immortal.
However, some call it a cursed helm, since the wearer can never die."

Its meant to be lore about legendary equips and what not. Not at all actually true, and that sword is purely fashinogi.

Y'know, that looks really stupid and I don't think I've ever actually seen it in game.

I collect hats in Vind, and I came across it on the wiki, but no one seems to craft it or have it. But I want it.

Hats are probably the worst thing to collect. There's like a ton of event hats that cost a few mil, and not to mention the Bunny Ear Headband, Sunglasses, Winter Hats, and Studded Masks.
I remember seeing that helmet while browsing through Brakis' craft list though. Another one of those items is the Blood Fist Gauntlet, but some people actually make that as people just love red glowing eyes (or something).

I would laugh if that hat did actually grant immortality by unconditionally triggering Life Flare on every attack that would incapacitate you.
