Instead of making a loud noise
It emits wasabi into the air, alerting you by burning the insides of your nose.
You will be guarenteed to wake from your sleep in pain.
However, the airborne wasabi will not get into your eyes.

Whats the difference between the sounds and the wasabi?
Signal is overall the same, though I'd imagine loud noises would get a faster response.

Oh and that'd be annoying.
Imagine you burn something while you're in the kitchen and your alarm goes off. All that burning inside your nose isn't really needed in such a situation.

Hrm..
maybe the cat should convince Brad's cat to install one of these in his house.

This might be useful for some people who sleep through the night without any disturbance from loud noises. Like me. :L But then, can't you smell fire either way?

I need several of these along with a gas mask.
It's time to have fun in school next year.

Depends on where you are. If the fire started somewhere that is somewhat distant to where you sleep. Then by the time you smell the fire your already out of escape options. :x

I'd rather have the normal ones...
No need for wasabi in my nose, like Phunkie said, when I burn something in the kitchen..

Burning popcorn is bad enough as is...something like this would just make it ruin the whole day~

Sounds like it will create extra mess.

Couldn't you just have both sound and scent?
I really rather wake up and hear an alarm instead.
The neighbors might hear it and save you :D.

Annoying alarm sound to give you a headache. Annoying wasabi in your nose to give you an even worse headache! LOVE IT!

D: That sounds painful.
I'll...stick with regular smoke alarms.

Some people can sleep through loud noises. Take my sister for example. We were at an Indy car race, only about 10 rows back from the track, my sister slept through about half the race. So a simple "Beep Beep Beep" wouldn't be enough to wake her up, but getting wind of wasabi would definitely wake her up.
