  Unless the "hack" has evolved since it was "released", they shouldn't be able to choose what you lose.

  There some people that say it has happened to tarlach mostly through random trades.

  You can be forced summon to a camp tent, one that is corrupted and sends you to an area of the hackers choosing, when you first go in this tent your entire inventory is stripped, personal/sealed equips included, so is your face/hair/eyes/skin from your hidden inventory which corrupts your character data, which is why you get blackrobed when you try to log in. (Blackrobe characters on char select). It is across all servers. Groups of people and individuals are both to blame. Using a skill or not having the campfire skill means they cant force you into a hacked tent. Rest or making your own tent are good ideas. Best one is to stay logged off.

  If you're online you have a chance to be summoned into a black tent, and you have a chance to lose your ego, personalized items, parts of your body, etc. Nothing is safe. Like I said above, they should not be able to choose what you lose, saying as the original hack made it random, but specifically personalized items and egos.

  • Dugald (Off the map)
    
  • Tara (although only a few people have said this, also possibly off the map)

  
  Those are the only three I've seen people say, although there may be more.
  
  Looks like, if you lose a body part and log off, you'll be black-robed. Doesn't look like there's a fix for that yet, though.
  
  If you do a skill, set up a camp, or set up a campfire, you cannot make a new camp, which basically makes you "safe". Although, your best bet is just not to log in at all.

  I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure quite a few people have said nothing about trades, and that they were just going about their business. Either there are two versions of this, or people aren't telling the full story.
  
  Also, if everything is stripped, then there definitely is a second version or that's false info, because every post I've read says that they've only lost one thing.
