Ehh Help out?

It depends which part of the US you are in. If you're in eastern coast, choose East. If you're in west coast, choose West.

Yes, it definitely matters which one you pick, if you live in the east and pick west you'll probably be tortured with lag. :x

Being that you live in Texas, you probably could go to the east, but you'd be better off in the west. Texas is usually considered a western state so there will likely be other people in that general range.

Don't set your expectations too high. I live in the middle of the east coast and most of the time I get 2-4 bars from people. 1 if the person is behind a proxy, and 5 if the person is actually pretty close. Basically there's going to be a little bit of lag either way and even if you lived in the "perfect" place, you wouldn't see 5 bars very often.

I'm not sure how much of a role a good connection/being behind a proxy truly plays, though. I met someone behind a proxy playing from Puerto Rico (which is nowhere near me) and they had 4 bars while I was hosting.

There's a much more accurate map floating around somewhere, but I think the server split is something like this...

Green = East
White = West
Red = considered West and will get best connection to West, but since they're central states, could play either really and wouldn't notice a huge difference, though the West server will probably get you a better connection... generally, just go with the one your friends are on if you're in the red, or if you tend to play earlier or later in the day, that might affect which server you play on West = 2 hrs earlier, East = 1 hr later.

Green, white, red = Italy. Amusingly enough, Mexico has the same flag but with an emblem in the middle.

Madagascar is the closest to white, green, red, I guess.
