Let's start off the new year with some new games to play :skip:
This event will let a
total of 3 winners choose a game of their choice from my large sack of steam gifts, with their winning position determining priority.
The theme of the event is 2012 and what you plan to do with it.
It's very simple, post a reply to this thread explaining how you're going to make the best of 2012. It can be text, illustrated, a series of photos, an audio recording or even video. Reply with whatever medium you think would work best for the message you want to share.
The deadline for submissions is:
Friday, the 20th of January, in the evening Eastern Time (no exact hour).
I figure that's a good way to start off the new year positively for our community.
To be eligible,
be sure to have 100 posts by the event's end date. That means you can join Nation right now and become an active member of our community, and you do have a chance of winning, so don't be shy!
List of choices (and how many of each is available):
- Portal Bundle (x2)
- Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition (x2)
- Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
- Fallout: New Vegas + Old World Blues + Lonesome Road (x2)
- Killing Floor Bundle

This year, I'm going to try to do more productive things, and actually start getting more into cooking since that's what my future will most likely revolve around.
Also going to try to be nicer since I think I come off a bit mean sometimes, and I hate the feeling I get when somebody thinks bad of me t_t.
It's not much, but it's better to take baby steps towards improving, instead of taking one big step forward and stepping on the wrong thing.
I may edit this later on, if I can that is..

You can edit and add to it as much as you want, only checking them at the end.

I probably will plan to do some good things like keeping grades up and try to not sit in a chair all day. However, that probably won't happen since... Well, they ARE new years resolutions. :U

Will this be by draw or will you determine which posts are worth the win?
How will I make the best out of the year 2012? Well, first I should talk about my New Year's resolution. This year, I plan on studying hard. Last semester was my first semester and I really did not do my best. I passed all my courses, but my grades dropped from a 90% average to a 70% average. I'm going to seek out the tutors in the college (only cost 2$ per hour and the college pays the rest).
I also plan on getting a job, staying home all day and not doing anything productive is depressing. I want to make that money so I can eventually save up for an apartment, a computer that I will eventually build (I kind of want to do something like Osay), my education (I plan on going to university) and all kinds of other things I want to buy. I'm not in debt or anything, so I can really save up my money.
Another thing that I want to do is try to exercise regularly. I use to go to the gym, but I'm not the type of person that can stay motivated. I want to lose some weight. I guess I can start by exercising with the treadmill and the barbells in my basement. I'm also going to quit drinking soda and juice regularly, though I don't drink soda as much as before. I'm going to drink lots of water :]. I should start eating snacks every four hours so that I won't be as hungry when I hate lunch or dinner. That's it for now~

This year I'm going to graduate from High School. I'm going to go to start College and do better at it than how I did in High School. I'm going to be loving to my boyfriend and hopefully live with him this year. I'm going to go visit my boyfriend and have tons of fun. I know I haven't been to nice but I really want to try and change that. I'll also learn how to hold my tongue rather than arguing about something forever and ever. Things were bad in 2011, but I know if I work hard I can make them better and better.
Here's to a great year ahead of us.
Cheers.

I'm not sure yet 0:
I'm honestly not expecting anything awesome judging from past events that required effort, so for now it's by draw. If you guys prove me wrong it might become a contest.

I was thinking that it would be something like Hannah's "What Do You Like About Nation?" event. Was participation on that event really that low? I mean, I did not participate myself cause I had a lot of things to do, but all you have to do is write. xD

Well, for starters, today I woke up early this morning, had a nice breakfast of a bagel and some yogurt.
I plan on eating healthy and staying fit, and keeping my mind active.
I need to more than ever now.
Things I'm going to do on a daily basis, rain or shine, no matter what:
- Jog or run every morning and night
- Eat healthy meals and snacks, occasional spoiling is fine, but will be very limited
- Read
I'm going to apply for several colleges including, but not limited to.
- University of California: Los Angeles
- University of Tennessee
- Florida State University
- Ohio University
- San Bernardino Valley College
In the summer time I plan on taking some internships as well, though I don't know what I'll do just yet.
Hord wok, no palay
This is one of the most important years for me and I want to make sure the things I have been forcing myself to concentrate on since elementary school don't go to waste, I want to start off on the right foot, and I'm determined to make that happen.
TL;DR

This year, I'm going to complete many tutorials on computer science. I've already done all the lessons on
Carl H's Programming Lessons for the C language, and have currently moved on to
These C# tutorials. I'm on lesson 8 currently. The end-goal here is to be able to make a game that is presentable as a finished product, while learning C, C#, some scripting language, C++, and Java.
I've already completed a small Tic-Tac-Toe game on C, and am currently working on translating it to C#, while being able to have user-input to where the X's and O's go.
I have also enrolled on CS 20 IB and am planning to enter the
Canadian Computing Competition this year. Hopefully, I can win some scholarships. My family is pretty poor so maybe getting some money will help. I'm old enough to take a job this year, but I am really questioning the idea of working in food chains.
There are also plans to buy a drawing tablet and practice my drawing skills.
Mmm.. it's hard to summarize all what I plan on doing this year, since with my whirlwind of a life you never know if things will go your way or not, but let's see;
I hope to start attending College online this Spring (though by the looks of it, it will be late Spring at best) which will require me qualifying for financial aid, something I should be once I take an ATB test sometime soon. I'll be starting with the basics that I did not learn during Middle School and work my way up to reviewing what I already know, then finally obtaining a Highschool+ level understanding of Math. (with some grammar classes, of course) Afterwards, I'll be knocking off pre-reqs and hopefully even some start pre-med classes by the end of the year, depending on how things go.
As for more personal stuff, I hope to start working out and thus improve my physical shape and give me some much-needed muscles. Thankfully that should also help boost my hunger, making it easier to gain weight. That or I am honestly just going to stuff myself silly until I look like a real boy and not a twink. ಠ_à²
I've gotten better with helping around the house over the years, so chores aren't something I really need to do. Though I do need to build the bottom of my bunk-bed back up so I might use it as a frame, making me able to take my Ratties out without worrying about them getting lost in my room. (basically the one negative thing about having a bed on the floor) Which is somethin' I really need to do, as my Matthieu is getting older every day, and I want to treasure every second of it with him.
Oh, besides the above, I also want to do various smaller improvements on myself for the sake of my Mom. She is going to be taking 4 University level classes this year, all of which are highly recommend to be taken single/one at a time, so I really need to up my game as a Kid. I always make sure to cook and help set up her bed in the living-room at night, but honestly I feel like a failure for being so lazy and selfish sometimes. I'm not 100% sure how to go about it, but mostly trying to pick up anything she's too tired or busy to do. I need to develop a habit of doing laundry, though lawd knows I'm worse than your average guy with that stuff. My only domestic skills are at cooking. (Stereotypical guy problems FTW) Otherwise, I also want to pick up a habit of doing the dishes.
Which I hate. Loathe. Despise.
But if it's for her, I really don't care. I owe so much to her.. I always tell myself year after year "Oh, I'll change this or this" or "I'll do this, this year", yet I never do. But she needs me more than ever right now, so I want-- no, need-- to man up and do my job. I haven't earned my place as man of the house, and I refuse to be a piece of sh*t like my biological father. I want to prove to her that she has at-least one stable, good-hearted man in her life who will take care of her without any objection.
That's how I'm going to make the best of this year, no matter what life throws at me.
Spoiler'd for length. I hope I didn't go too into detail, but I have a habit of failing to explain things properly, leading to me over-explaining them.

First off, Yay this is my 100th post~
But that's off-topic
(Small background story to help elaborate my reasons behind my actions o3o Sorry if its is a "TL;DR" Moment)
Woo, 2012, Finally 2011 and 2010 are the past. Unfortunately for me the past still lingers heavily xD Basically in the past two years I've went through my parents (Biological mother and Step Dad) getting a divorce, moving to a new city, and being under a lot of stress from "Friends" and family. Due to all the stress, I pretty much screwed myself over. Last year, (freshman year of high school) I started the year off strong, all A's. Sadly due to losing interest and not really talking to anyone about my stress, my grades slowly, but surely, dropped. I was able to pass the year but barely. Then sophomore year came. It was basically a continuation of freshman year. Then along with this I lost two of my best friends in the world and went through a breakup.
Things are slowly getting better, but I really need to pick things up. That's my plan for 2012. As most people have already said they were going to study more, I'll be doing that of course. (Besides, Animal Tech is beginning to get harder xD. Darn you Anatomy and Physiology) I also want to leave my comfort zone and do the things I always wanted to do. For example. Every since 6th grade, I told myself that I was going to be an officer in my high schools FFA Chapter(The Future Farmers of America) and be drum major for the band. This year is my chance to accomplish this but with my grades right now and my work ethnic, Its going to be hard. I also always wanted to play baseball for my school but I was afraid of what ridicule I'd receive for doing that since people don't exactly expect me to be a "Jock" or a "Sports person" since I'm usually just "That one kid" who tends to wear a lot of black. I also plan to try to be less shy and actually make friends that I can trust and want to be around. I really don't feel like getting back-stabbed and used by people I thought were my closest friends. Luckily, I found Mabination, I found it to be a great start. I met Subete and Kenny. Probably the most amazing people I've met in a while. They can be pretty silly at times but, aren't all friends like that? Whats great about them though is that, I believe they actually care. And besides, they put a smile on my face even in the worst of days
But anyway, I apologize sincerely for this long entry. Osay has to read so much from everyone xD But yeah. Have a great day everyone~
Edit: Also I apologize for kinda just throwing my life out there xD. Its kinda hard to explain my intentions without that. Also I'm really sorry if I rambled on or any grammatical errors or things like that. I proof read it about 4 times and didn't see anything that really stood out

in 2012 i am planning to break the world record by becoming the first person to sprint across Korean demilitarized zone, while doing so i will be wearing a bright and extremely noticeable red and white sweater to show off my Canadian pride, i will also be holding a flare to ensure that i can be seen from miles away. after that is accomplished, i will then proceed to build a space station on mars and breed an army of cybernetic enhanced nuclear powered goat for later use in 2013. after that i think i am set for the year.

The key to making the best of 2012 for me is to learn to resist urges, particularly the urge to procrastinate. There's always a lot of things I want to do that aren't what I should be doing. Getting done with what I need to get done right away will definitely help me with everything else, so here I go.

I want to be more physically active while enjoying the simple things in life. I can push through really long walks as long as I have music.
