I need 5 songs that have to do with the theme of revolution for a project I have due soon.
Rules:
It can be any genre BUT it must:
- Not be in a foreign language
- Can't have profanity in it*
- Can't be orchestral or instrumental
- Can't be Viva La Vida or the song "Revolution"
*Can have minor swearing like "damn" or "hell".
I need to explain in a small write-up how the lyrics of the song fit with the theme of revolution. Reason why I can't choose Viva La Vida or Revolution is because.....It's cliche. My History teacher's already heard those two songs more than enough from previous projects.
I need something interesting. Oh! And I'll also need the lyrics if you have them. I'd rather not waste time searching for sufficient sources and lyrics.
Ok,thanks!:skip:
*Please feel free to post as many songs as you want. That would help me even more!

Why not a foreign language? French and German both have great repertoires of revolutionary music, and I'm sure others too.
I mean if it was for English I'd understand, but History? Is your teacher too good for foreign languages? Or is it a criterion you came up with for yourself?

That's a bit sassy, considering that should actually be your work.

Sorry :C Didn't mean to sound sassy.I mean I
could have a foreign song, but do the lyrics have a translation or something? Sorry if I'm sounding edgy or rude. I didn't make these rules up,the teacher did.

Teacher is a weirdo. Well it happens, I and others get rude too. Communication makes everything good again. :)
Well I guess I could try and translate some lyrics of some song or two or direct you to a translation on the internet if available. But if your teacher really insists on songs written in English, then I guess that's it then. Or does he just want to have an English text provided?
Sadly I don't know any revolutionary songs in English, just some civil war tunes. :P

what kind of revolution?

I think it's general. Just the topic revolution per se.

Is "Revolution" the song from the Beatles? That was probably the only song I could have suggested. Sorry I don't know any other songs that fit your teacher's criteria, the genre I listen to is hip-hop, and the songs about revolution in hip-hop tend to contain some profanity. I'm thinking about songs like "Black Gold" (the topic is on the conflict involving oil) and songs by Immortal Technique.

Lyrics:
The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
Transmissions will resume, they'll try to
Push drugs, keep us all dumb down and hope that
We will never see the truth around, so come on
Another promise, another scene, another
Package not to keep us trapped in greed with all the
Green belts wrapped around our minds and endless
Red tape to keep the truth confined, so come on
They will not force us
And they will stop degrading us
And they will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Interchanging mind control, come let the
Revolution take its toll, if you could
Flick a switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die, so come on
Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end, we have to
Unify and watch our flag ascend, so come on
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious, so come on
Hey, hey, hey, hey
