What exactly is 3D?

Okay so we can't see 4D but we can see the shadow of it got that part.

But the part I didn't get was flatline (2D Right?) and the 3D creature.
So when The apple met the square and the square saw the apple did it only see the bottom part of the apple? Confused and stuff Dx

Saw the butt of the apple, I think. So yeah, the bottom.

The flatlander can only see in all 2D directions, but since the apple is a 3D object, it will only see that parts that come in contact with the table (which is the world of the flatlander).

As the apple goes through the table, the flatlander would see the object grow. First, the butt of the apple, then a cross section of the apple, getting wider and wider, until it disappears again = apple passes completely through table.
