I'm really interested in not only making Ice Mines, but also mass producing Life Drain Crystals and perhaps even taking on that Dorren's Request mission. It just seems like it could be a ton of experience if you have patience like that. :)
I recently got in that "Alchemy" mood, you know? I'm one rank away from Rank 9 AM because of that.
Though I'm undecided.
Golem sounds like a pretty sick skill and I've been contemplating doing that too. So it's either one or the other.
I'm taking a break on my Melee skills. Got FH to Rank 5, finally. Gonna leave it at there for now and focus on something else.
I just want your opinions, really. What to do, what to do?

I'd say do golem next. My main and secondary character have done it and it helps a lot. Especially for my secondary when none of her combat skills comes close to a r1 stone golem and rC AM. It also saves you some dura on your weapons.

I consider synthesis like the blacksmithing (or tailoring) of alchemy. You can't do much at the lower ranks but at the higher ranks you produce those rare items that people are willing to pay a lot for. Not to mention the cost of mats for the good/rare items.
A good rank synthesis used in Dorren's request can easily help you finish and net 100k exp. on adv in about 15~20 minutes if you have someone with a decent rank fireball or someone else it.
If you're all about combat I'd say put it off for now and finish ranking FH or some other combat orientated skill.

I guess my real questions are, how rare are those drops in Dorren's Request?
And is it a mission worth doing if one had Rank 6 Synthesis?
But I dunno, I really wanna rank the skill for some reason. 38 AP for the cap @ Rank 6 and it doesn't seem too hard to rank.
I just ask myself, am I ever gonna really use it?

Haha, I feel like taking a break from melee. I wanna do something fun or challenging.
Ranking FH is rather dull.

Yes ranking synthesis can be worth it. You can make all the best stuff in game (hard to do but possible). Dragon shields, beholder shields, War swords etc etc. Also making Really good icemines from someones r1 icespear crystals are actually very handy (just don't get stuck in 1 yourself). Alchemy is alot of fun when you get into it. Its gameplay is very different from melee. magic, range. I have r6 synthesis, r6 fragmentaion, r1 barrier spikes, r6 lifedrain, r3 mana crystalization (will get r1 golem after my magic tab is done).
GL on all that. If you guys want I'll post a guide for Ranking synth.

After reading Trilateral's guide, training it doesn't seem too hard but if you want to make anything valuable out of it, your gonna be spending money
If you want a challenge theres always potion making *evil laugh*
Golem summoning looks pretty awesome at high ranks but training it you'll have to put up with pathetic damage

Not really rare. 0-2 drops per orb spawn.
As for if it's worth it? With r6 Synthesis, Alchemy Master, Saturday, and rain, I think it'd be very much worth it. On Hard, the mission's EXP giveout is 185k, and in terms of combat difficulty, is waaay easier than Defeat the Shadow Wizard on the same difficulty lvl, plus gives 20k more EXP.
Compared to "Defeat the Shadow Wizard", the pros are:
- Each orb spawns a condensed mob of 4 (except for Light Blue orb sometimes spawning a mob of 3). Easy for AoE attacks.
- No need to run around.
- No need to defeat a boss.
- If you're lucky, and you're Synthesizing within successful situations, you can finish this mission in under 5 minutes without need ridiculously high-lvls/ranked skills.
- 185k EXP on Hard difficulty. That's the highest EXP payload of any non-generation Taillteann Shadow Mission. 185k within 5-20 minutes with much less effort than "Defeat the Shadow Wizard" Hard (which gives only 165k EXP). You can obtain 370k EXP from doing this mission twice in the same time/effort (or less) in doing G9 "The Finale" on Hard.
Cons:
- The end chest rewards have less goods then "Defeat the Shadow Wizard". Shadow Hunter & Crocodile ES, Dandy Gothic Enamel Shoes, and Exploration Page 3.
- All monsters in this mission give no EXP.
- This mission can be failed if you have poor luck/rate with Synthesis.

One other thing you should note is that the drop rate goes down with the beginner level Shadow Wizard, at least from what I could tell anyways. The only reason I would know this is because my sister and I sometimes do shadow missions together and she's terrible at the game, so we only do beginner missions together mostly. So I'd recommend Int or higher.
