What determines style? I wanted to stem out of the typical color matching trend Mabi has, but maybe I've gone too far?

You made me realize I should be more lenient in my ratings. Anyhoo, compared with the glasses in the 2nd picture, I'd give it a 7/10. Reminds me of Saori from Oreimo.

6/10 bat boots don't really match vanalen outfit + I'm not really too fond of black and white color scheme except on some outfits and vanalen is not one of them

dunno who she's modeled after but 7.5/10... black and white actually works for this set - idk about that face tho.. there's probably good reason for it since it's probably a cosplay but if you're solely considering how the character model looks on mabi, it's kind of weird looking

6.5/10 not really sure what you're going for... like Blissfulkills said, don't really see the rough-and-tumble look and imo that hat doesn't match the outfit. If you want to keep the hat, either make the band on the hat the same color as the hat cuz it's distracting or remove the hat altogether. Also the pants naturally look weird if you keep it with the short shoes... maybe boots that rise up to the knee would look better with that outfit. Can't really complain about the color scheme itself though, looks decent enough.

9/10 not too fond of the gym bag but the rest is very cute, plus black and white seems to work well for this

3/10 idk if that just happens to be your color scheme but it looks like you didn't bother dyeing anything or try to get anything to coordinate at all. For one, bat boots don't go well with shamala and neither do those wings.. you have fur/fuzz on your shamala and all but then the wings are just all paper looking and oddly shaped. For another, the color on your bat boots don't match or coordinate with the color of the shamala, and I dislike bright pinks on outfits to start anyway. I'd suggest sticking to more neutral colors for the shamala, changing the bat boots to either some type of knee high boot or some sandals, and either take off the wings all together or switch them out for black/white angels.. mayybe white demons would work too. The only thing I basically gave you points for is matching your wig in the first screenshot with your eyes and the fur on the shamala.

4/10 like pinkkea said, those colors just look like default npc colors... if you wanted to go for a more samurai kind of effect (which is the vibe I'm sort of getting here), I'd suggest dyeing the white part of the outfit dark gray and the pants black or dark brown, though I can't really tell exactly what's best looking to me unless I actually put that in a simulator. Also, that starlet wig is really weird if you're going for a samurai committing seppuku look lol. Personally I'd suggest trying Unbalanced Long Ponytail or Straight Bangs for the hair.. Portia wig might work too if you happen to have that.

You don't have to exactly match all the colors on the outfits, you just have to coordinate them to look nice. Your current set right now just looks undyed and uncoordinated.

6/10 for first set, 7.5/10 for second set. I feel like the blue/black/white scheme doesn't really work for the first set, and those bat boots don't match either (seriously, what is up with people and bat boots for everything). Second works a lot better.. although again, I feel like there could be shoes better than bat boots, but as I'm not too familiar with male outfits I can't really say for certain and they seem to be OKAY in the second set + the second does give off that nerdy otaku feel as you described.

@Blissfulkill - Enough ratings for you yet?

Although, the Portia wig might work in completing my Kenshin Cosplay.:awesome:

Believe me when I said it was ridiculously hard to dye the armor parts silver. (It was before event, so I spent 200k-300k per metal dye.)

That being said, it might work better with my Chang'e, but I still think it looks sorta weird. Will post Chang'e later this day.
