I've been tellin' people for ages that you don't need to believe in and put your faith in ol' JC be religious and vice versa.
But noooo. The two always have to intertwine.

Jesus may have said different stuff completely, but the Jesus that religion has created overshadowed him completely.

Pretty sure Jewish faith doesn't believe in/follow Jesus.

He's being pretty vague, some people might take this the wrong way. There were those back then at that time who worshiped God only to feel better about themselves, so they would over-exaggerate in everything they'd do, such as grabbing attention on the streets by "helping" the poor and looking all devoted, sacrificing and praying to the Lord. He's specifically talking about these kinds of people and there still are some today. I don't know if he's promoting a lifestyle where "EVERYTHING IS OKAY NOW YOU CAN SIN ALL YOU WANT AND DON'T CARE BECAUSE YOU'RE STILL GETTING SAVED!", but that is certainly how you shouldn't go if you're going to follow Jesus.

I think he had some good points, and yet I may not even understand properly what his points were since he didn't explain them, but I also think this kind of thing is better done in a well written argument than a four minute series of generalizations.
"Why does religion build huge churches, but fail to feed the poor?"
Yuck. I don't like this kind of utilitarianism. You might as well ask why anyone does anything at all that's not as practically good as feeding poor people (which is probably most things). I'd say the answer to this particular question is because beauty and aesthetics are valuable as well.

To quote a friend:
Quote from Friend:
To people who are sharing that link regarding why 'Jesus is better than religion': Phrase, I may agree with. Many of the things he rants about is nice, but remember that without 'religion' we today may not know who Jesus was. Also remember you wouldn't have the Bible in the condition that it is today. And paraphrasing some wise words: it isn't so much about who are atheists, who are Christians, and who aren't.. it's about who continues to search and who's given up. What this ranting video does is pretty much put all the people who follow a religion, whichever it may be, into the category of those who've given up and 'those lost.' Nice try at making intolerance sound okay by making it rhyme.
