A 14-YEAR-OLD boy in southern Russia has been charged with killing his father with a sledgehammer after his parents tried to stop him from playing computer games.
The unnamed boy in the coastal town of Tuapse, located by the Black Sea in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, bludgeoned his father to death while he lay sleeping, regional investigators said.
"At around 1am (local time) on April 12, the suspect dealt his sleeping father at least two blows on the head with a sledgehammer," the region's investigative committee said.
"The man died on the spot from a head injury.
A spokeswoman said the parents had taken away the keyboard as a disciplinary measure after he spent a week playing computer games.
After the killing, the boy's frightened mother gave him the keyboard back and the boy played computer games for several more hours until he fell asleep, the spokeswoman said.
At that point, the mother, who was not injured, contacted relatives who in turn called police.
The boy, who has no criminal record, is now being held in pre-trial detention.
At 14, he is old enough to be charged with murder under Russian law.

Wow, some people have an addiction. Besides that, he could have just waited for his punishment to go off, instead of getting a charge with murder, and not ever playing video games, or for that matter have a decent life.

I know what I have is an addiction to the internet. But you'd have to be mentally challenged to kill your parents over it. Even drug addicts won't go that far (most of the time).
Whats really annoying about this is that when everyone makes a mess and they played video games the news will be all over it and take every opportunity to make video games look bad.
The game addiction can be replaced with any other kind of addiction here. But even so, the boy shouldn't have killed his father. What killed the father was either a mental disorder, or just poor child conditioning/parenting.
Man murders person.
Background history: He did drugs. He was abused as a child. He dropped out of school.
News: Uninteresting story. Lets not take this one.
Man murders person.
Background history: He played Call of Duty on his free time, 2 hours a day.
News: F*** YEAH GUYS THIS IS A GOOD CASE LETS REPORT HOW PLAYING COD MADE HIM KILL SOMEONE.
Example: Virginia Tech Massacre
Signs of shooting: Premade videos, poetry in which he says he wants to kill everyone, lack of social activity, constant terroristic threats, dark mood that appears in his writing assignments. Parents gave him crap about not being able to go to a IVY League school and disowned him.
News: Oh hey this guy played some shooting games. Obviously thats what made him crazy and he shot everyone.

And soon they shall blame the video games for doing this. They always do since there are people who believe that video games are from sin and should be destroyed. Especially those people who are super Christains and believe everything is sin. The thing is, it's the child's fault for not realizing how unhealthy it is to play games all day. He just didn't know what he was doing was right since he got some kind disorder or bad parenting.
But NOOO, they never want to blame bad parenting. Either because they don't want people from other countries thinking we're bad or they just don't want to make the parents or parent to look bad. In any case, they should really just blame the parent for not observing their internet usage. The parent should have watched what the child was doing and then moderating the time they had.
Also, isn't it funny that she called family instead of the cops first? Who does that? Maybe she's crazy too for all we know. Either way, the woman thought it was better to let her husband lay on the bed bleeding before she called the cops.
I actually have some experience in this too. My older sister likes to play games. Every day. She stays on and never gets off. And when she does, she complains that she doesn't want to do what she's doing. She'd rather sit around on computer than going around helping our ailing grandmother. She even attacked me when I took her usb internet port. She is just addicted I tell you.

Even a game addict should realize killing your parent would lead to no more video games.

Yet another person who wants to accomplish something in the virtual world that forgets about the consequences in the real world. Good job kid, let's see how far in your game you get after having committed murder.
