someone please convince me handi is not all that bad. :T_T:
i was talking to my friend today. he's a pro elf. i mean... when i see him fight it's godly. but he's not doing handi. o3o
his argument was that handi doesn't make much useful things besides maybe the finest bandages or item fishing rod. he said that he wasn't going to spend millions on a dumb skill that would serve no real purpose to him. 14 dex... he says is not worth spending all that time and money for, if the skill itself is really useless.
tear!! this makes me sad. his argument really makes sense to me. o.o
why did i start handi?! i really only learned it because my other friend was doing it. that other friend was noobier than me by a longshot and now he is so pro. much more so than moi now i believe. he's got handi capped and he's able to dual wield some type of 222 broad now. hmm.... that guy was rich though, and im not really. im at 109 dex with handi b. oh, and the other reason is because just like refine, if my dex is too high it's hard to fail -> train handi.
it's suckie!! most of my mabi playing i had revolved around handi~ like i learned thunder only for the sake of rafting for tough string~ and these days i've been running castle a lot too. and dduudee suggested i rank firebolt to 1 :D for getting wooden boards. i did that as well. well, i dont regret getting firebolt 1 or getting thunder to a decent rank; im actually glad of it.
it's just that im feeling impatient and wondering if all this is for nothing. because im doing all this stuff, i dont really have time to make money in the game. today i ran a red gem to try to make money and ended up making about 30k, and that's starting with incomplete fomor scroll stacks. failsauce?! i think ill want to finish handi to rank a at least (only making boards training left), but should i go on to rank 6?? should i just leave it and rank some other dex skill?? but you know, if i follow his argument, wouldn't the same thing apply to weaving?? really... what would i do with fabrics and crap. if i see it his way, the only good, useful dex giving skill is ranged attack, which is sounding delicious to me right now. i tire of hunting for iron bars (tiresome and inv space) and waiting for monday's full party. >:c what did you guys do for raising dex?? did you handi or no?? what should i doooooo xD
omg and sorry about this complaining lol!! im just seeking advice yo :D

Handicraft is worth it since in the end, if you continue to play, you try to cap all skills, but if you're getting really impatient, you can try other lifeskills or ranged skills. Finishing up Handicraft is what I would do though since your dex isn't maximum yet, so you can still fail when needed.

Handicraft is good for free dex, and making tons of random things like bandages or better arrows or fishing rods.
For an archer, handicraft is like 2+s for little ap, extra dex AND damage+ arrows.
Coarse, im not much of an archer,i have capped ar,ranged, refine and prod mastery, but only use ranged 1v1 or in a combo with barrier spikes when i dont want to risk death.
Your going to get it eventualy, so why not now while your interested in it?

If you have the patience, get to r8. r7+ is hell. Every little bit of dex counts, especially when it costs single digit AP to get to the next rank. It might have been better if you had bought boards during the Tara event, because castle and wyverns get really tedious.
Just do something else. I got to rA handicraft through making my own boards, then got really, really tired of it. When the festival event came around, I knew it was a golden opportunity to rank handicraft and pushed myself to r8 by buying boards. Perhaps another event with lots of wood boards will come around, and you will be able to take advantage of it.

You could have used Tara's Hammer game event to easily get to r6 Handicraft, but it requires you to play a lot of games. (Or buy a lot of cheap boards)
It is better to wait until you can find massive amount of cheap boards before you continue. Many lifeskills requires tons of work for small amount of stats. If you don't care about those stats, don't bother and save yourself time/money.

I agree with everything said here, but I would really like to point out that if you plan to play mabi long term you'll be capping all the skill anyway. Better now than later imo.

Handicrafting doesn't give that much dex, true. But, it's a low AP cost. Also, except for a few ranks, you really don't have to make many wood boards anymore. Also, with that last event you SHOULD have stocked wood boards to use for handicrafting anyway, like a lot of people did. :v

well i did save the ones i did get. it's just my invs are so full right now of things to sell and herbs and whatnot, so i didn't really bother to buy any. i think i was rank c handi anyway. alright well. i guess i should just train it as a side thing and focus on lvling or making money for now to take my mind off it. argh it's monday~ ill do a little training up then. ty guys <3

Handi is a lot easier with arrow and bolt manuals now, too.
Your friend is right in saying that the skill itself is useless, but squeezing out as much dex as possible from the game is ideal, in endgame.

Also good to rank so you can make use of the Peaceful enchant for gloves.

Just rank it until you get sick of it. Rank another dex+ skill (refine, weaving?), get sick of that, come back to handi with more cash on hand, rinse and repeat.
Don't work too hard or else you'll get sick. Enjoy the variety and the game itself.

question, how does your friend dual wield 222 broads when hes an elf? i thought elves couldn't dual wield

Ranking Handi is like ranking a lot of skills -- you do it for the stat boost, not the skill itself. I'm a giant and I have r6 Handi thanks to the last event. I was ranking it before then, on expensive wood boards, so this event was a godsend. Handi is the second-cheapest dex (for the AP) life skill. And lacking ranged attack skills to boost dex, necessary for a giant who wants to use warhammers eventually.
I know a bunch of people currently ranking metal conversion for the dex. I'll do it eventually too, but in my case I am more interested in the MP and stam.

oh the elf friend was the one that told me handi was useless, and the 222 wielder was the friend that capped handi.
for fails i should get a scarecrow set ye?? with a scarecrow set and titles on, what is the ideal max dex i should be aiming for?? i heard it was 100 but im not sure. if i get a scarecrow set i can work on other dex skills :c

eh, unless you really want to go for highest stats, your ap is better spent in other places, also r5 weaving and ra smithing would be good to have befor going into hc
also metal conversion gives dex and can help with refine and make copper into silver :3
