Too much noob-grade, angry overreaction here. The policy is logical; it's there to prevent people from coming to Canada essentially as tourists, only to get married, to bypass their country's gay marriage policies before going back.
If you are a Canadian resident, this doesn't apply.
Yet if this was America doing this, you'd be on the opposite side...

Update on the news, much more clear & accurate since this is CBC.
Too long to quote!
Basically what I got out of it by skimming was that, you must be a Canadian citizen and to be living in Canada, in order to get the rights to get married and a divorce if you want one later on.
This makes me much more fair, I guess. I mean people just come here, get married and gtfo.
But don't you have to give up Citizenship in whatever place you're from in order to obtain Canadian Citizenship?
Or am I misinformed.
Because if you do, that's retarded as f*ck.

Ah, that's not that bad, then.
I have duel-citizenship for both my birth-place (Germany) + here. So I don't mind giving up the American part, but I do love being able to flee to Germany whenever I want.

I am rather shaken by such an open attack toward the comunity.. Who say we should hunt down those conservative who voted for such a stupidity of abolishing same-sex marriages? *take out her dagger-chain weapons*

I wonder what the rationale was to suddenly do this now, especially with the guaranteed backlash that would come with it.
