It's probably a crappy cable since you need to get it into a certain position. I had that problem with one of my laptops

Make sure the cable is plugged in properly. Not just to the back of your PC, but to the back of the monitor as well.

And if all else fails, you can just buy a new cable. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new monitor, and will only cost you several bucks.

Although there is a slight change it is the inside of the monitor where it connects to the port. In that case, you'd have to buy a new one or solder it.
