recently, my internet has been dying midday, and doesn't fully work again until around sunset. it usually starts ~12 pm. i don't know why it's always at those times. i always restart the modem when that happens, and sometimes it works, but when it does it comes back at half its normal speed(which is already pretty freaking slow >.>). i called my internet company, but all they tell me is: unplug all your wires, shut off the modem, and wait 30 seconds to plug everything back. of course, this doesn't work too well. does anyone know what i can do? my equipment is pretty old... >.> as is my internet. my modem says its from 2005. if it matters, its a westell model 6100. it does seem to be very hot when the internet shuts down, but there are many times when its not hot at all.

Try unplugging it until it gets cold then plug it in again, and see if it works properly. If it does, you need a new one.
This is the type of thing your ISP is responsible for, so call them up and don't let them get away with retarded answers they read off their screen. Ask for a proper technician to assist you.

my ISP is verizon, we have some crappy plan that may not even exist anymore, but we never bothered changing it. max download speed=90kb/s x.x i've unplugged it til it turned cold before, didn't work. and i wanted to bother them until they'd do something, but the hotline is broken or something. after the automated voice thing ends and transfers me to a human, i get static. once i got a hold of a person, but after i gave him my information he stopped talking.

I have the same internet package/provider and mine doesn't do that.
Your router may have shot craps, maybe time to get a new one.
