Shes been screaming for 4 hours about how my mom is treating her unfairly because were not being punished enough. I tried to reassure her that if i punched a hole in my door and called my mom a er f word then a b word i would not have my door either, but she screams louder and tells my mom that i get away with that sort of thing all the time?
She screams about how no one is listening to her, which would be a valid complaint if she had not been screaming constantly for the past 4 hours. I believe everyone stopped listening around the time our eardrums ruptured, thanks.
I should probably get up and get dressed a bit, the cops will be here soon because my mom decided that the best way to handle her behaviour was to call them, because she was threatening to run away and generally screaming her head of still.
Im at a loss as to what im supposed to do. If i ask my mom for some of the money from the paychecks i get for college that she is using to take care of everybody, she screams for 4 hours. If she takes my phone without permission and flips me off because i ask calmly for it back, suddenly im the bad guy for getting slightly irritated and throwing water on her. If i so much as try to tell her that shes being treated like a 9 year old because she is acting like a 9 year old, she screams louder and tells my mom that its so unfair that im not being punished like she is.
And if i keep my mouth shut, she continues to scream at my mom to the point where i cant stand it any longer, so i go into the living room and try to say something, which just makes her scream louder.
We dont have the money to afford a therapist or something. My moms been trying to save for one, but thats kind of hard when she is being screamed at that her looking for a job is so unfair because it means that my sister wont have anyone to drive her to her boyfriends, who is apparently under house arrest and probably shouldnt have visitors anyway. Its so unfair that i go see my girlfriend once every week or so and she cant go see her boyfriend 4 times a day, its favoritism.
Now im just venting, but i really dont know what im supposed to do. I dont mean to make fun of her, but common sense and reason left my mind at about hour 2.

Isn't this what you would call a "phase". I believe the most common way to deal with this is to let it pass.

Ninjam wrote on 2012-01-16 02:58
If its a phase its a long one. Shes been doing this since she was 12. And its been getting worse every year.
My ear splitting headache disagrees that this could be some kind of phase. But i dont know, im not thinking straight right now.

Maybe she should go to a school counselor? That doesn't cost money.

Got any chloroform? Probably not, but it would help calm the situation a little. Duct tape also works wonders, though you'll probably have to team up with your mom to try and bind her hands so that she isn't able to take the tape off of her mouth. That would definitely work, assuming your sister can't reach her mouth with her feet, or that she can't scream through her nose. If you don't have any nearby neighbors, then it'll be a bit tough to explain to the police why your sister is duct taped and not get arrested for child abuse...
But seriously, it does sound a bit like a stage that your sister is going through, so it would probably be best to let her cry it out and get out of it instead of feeding the fire. And while I understand the reason of calling the cops, I don't think that will calm her down, but rather only make her even more emotional, given what you said. If it were me, I'd let her "run away", but have a friend or someone keep an eye on her so that she doesn't get into any trouble. She'll find that the real world isn't as great as she thinks it is, and should come back slightly different, and more appreciative of what she has. But that's just me, I'm not exactly what people consider an "ideal parent".

Have you and your mom tried ignoring her? :U

Its finally diffused. The police helped by suggesting everyone calm down and my mom take her to their counciling department tomorrow.
There was a few seconds of yelling at me though, a few minutes ago. She heard my loudly ask my mom for a motrin or something to help with my splitting headache. The problem was, i wasn't meaning to talk so loud, i was just so used to having to talk that loudly from her constant screaming.
And trying to ignore her doesn't work, she just screams louder about how no one listens to her. Which is kind of funny, because its exactly what she screams about when we do try to talk to her.

Kick her out of the house for a few days and call the cops if she tries to come back in before you let her.

Teenage girls. It stops when they're 30.
Both my sisters are like that, yelling at the top of their lungs for stupid reasons. I usually just grab them and throw them in their room or tell them to just shut up and hit them. It works most of the time, they just sit there crying or sniffling, then a few minutes later are laughing at some show. They used to hit me back and we'd wrestle and then they have so much fun getting beaten up they forgot why they were yelling.

Sounds like a lost cause to me. If your mom is driving her to her boyfriend's house, ever, it suggests that she gives in to these rants enough for your sister to continue with them.
Quite frankly, she needs to get smacked across the head, figuratively. The pain to change has to be greater than the pain to stay the same...so make it hurt.

How old is she? Reminds me of my little sis. When ever my mom tells her no and trys to get her not to go out to partys at her friends or in school she turns into a demon who breaks & trows stuff while yelling @ the top of her lunges saying that you never tell Milton that he cant go to blah blah. Then she leaves & doesn't get grounded at all o-o. She was 13 when she started & shes 15 now owo.
Im like dude o.o Mom always kept us from going out when we were younger and im 19! Of course she eased up on me & my sis by now. owo But of course its always her her and her. I know for a fact that my dad would have beat the **** out of me & kicked me out the house if i acted like her at that age lol.

Shes 16. I guess it is just normal. Still doesnt give me any less of a splitting headache when she does it. Usually weekly.

I have four sisters. None of them have ever acted like that.
Probably because it wouldn't have gotten them anywhere.

..This is normal behavior?
My god. I'm thankful I'm not normal.
I was going to suggest either a Priest or a Therapist, but if it's normal then I'm not too sure what to say. Regardless, she sounds like she needs a good smack.

She does need a smack. This isn't helping her nor is it helping anyone, she has to realize she will not always get her way and the world will keep spinning even if she doesn't want it to. Life isn't fair, she has to face it instead of avoiding the truth and causing problems for everyone.
