  You shouldn't use Wikipedia for homework. Use peer reviewed work sited sources only - there are paid services to search such things.

  Google shutting down can be financially detrimental due to stocks. Last price I've seen on a single Google stock was like $600 or $800 a stock because it's worth that much. Once Google shuts down even to protest that means the stock value will drop because it isn't advertising for websites which means that stockholders may get frantic and sell the stocks thereby decreasing Google's revenue and it may cause a chain reaction because once a holder sells their stocks the value of the single stock will drop which makes it worth less. Then other stock holders will see its value dropping and in order to save their own blasses they sell it immediately while its still high. Well that's what I think will happen.

  Haha you can cheat wikipedia from blocking the website, right; when you click a link to the wikipedia page you want click the "X" button that prevents the page from fully loading. The coding the that actually blocks the website can only be loaded after the entire page is fully loaded.

  Keep in mind who the target audience here. Certainly not us tech savy folk who know all about the internet and stuff. Oh hell no. Wikipedia and these other sites are targeting the stupid Americans who don't know anything or what the big deal is about. That's the real threat here.
  
  There's only so much of us smart tech savy people and so many of the ignorant clueless people that using simple measures is enough to capture attention.
  
  I rarely use wikipedia if ever so it going down is of no consequence to me. Depending on which part of google went down, I could live without or I would run into issues.
  
  Of course if they shut down the search part of their website we'd lose SEO revenue...well revenue from our other affiliates who get SEO traffic too. So we would get a pretty heavy profit loss for a day or two if Google went down. Nothing we can't bounce back from I'm sure though.

  Google owns too many things and does too much. The day something stupid enough threatens to pass that they'd to a complete black-out, I'd be scared.
