Perry Drops Out Of Presidential Race
Another one bites the dust

Texas Governor Rick Perry has dropped out of the 2012 presidential race ahead of the South Carolina primary on Saturday.
Perry has, unsurprisingly, officially endorsed Newt Gingrich.
“I have come to the conclusion that this is no viable path forward for me in this 2012 campaign,†said Perry at a news conference in North Charleston, South Carolina this morning. “Therefore I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Newt Gingrich for president of the United States.â€

“Newt is not perfect, but who among us is,†said Perry, seemingly referring to the emerging scandal involving Gingrich and his ex-wife. “The fact is, there is forgiveness for those who seek God. And I believe in the power of redemption, for it is a central tenant of my Christian faith.â€
Perry went on to call Gingrich a “conservative visionary who will transform our country.â€
“I have no doubt Newt Gingrich is a man with a the heart of a conservative reformer, the ability to rally and captivate the conservative movement, the courage to tell those Washington interests to take a hike, if that’s what’s in the best interest of our country.†Perry said.
“I’ve never believed that the cause of conservativism is embodied by one individual,†Perry said. “Our mission is not only to defeat Barack Obama, but to replace him with a conservative leader who will bring about real change.†he added.
Perry finished dead last in the New Hampshire primary with less than 1 percent of the vote, despite spending months campaigning in the state.
The latest polls out of South Carolina had Perry floundering in fifth place once again with less than 4 percent.
Earlier in the week, Perry made a last ditch effort to appeal to staunch conservative voters by wading into the scandal involving US troops being filmed urinating on the dead corpses of Taliban fighters.
Perry defended the soldiers, and used the scandal to attack the Obama administration, claiming that under his presidency he would not tolerate “over-the-top rhetoric†and “disdain for the militaryâ€.
However, that has had no effect whatsoever on Perry’s numbers and now he has finally given up the ghost.
Infowars was first to report that Perry would run for president a full two months before he officially threw his hat in the ring. Perry insiders informed Alex Jones in June 2011 that the Texas Governor was preparing his campaign.
When Perry eventually joined the race in August, he stormed to the top of the polls. However, a series of terrible debate performances, culminating in the infamous “oops†moment where Perry forgot which federal agencies he wanted to abolish, left him slithering down the polls and floundering at the bottom of the pile.
Exposure of Perry’s past record also left him without a leg to stand on as his rivals all egded past him in the race for the Republican nomination.

Shame he endorsed Gingrich, but hey, that's cool.

Glad he is gone. Now we need to get rid of Gingrich.

I'm incredibly happy to hear he dropped out. I'm waiting for Romney to drop out now...
Honestly, such terrible candidates for Presidency this term. Even more so than usual. Get your act together, America.

With mistakes such as these, he pretty much screwed himself over:
Quote from BBC news:
1 Oct: Raises eyebrows after saying he would consider sending US troops into Mexico to fight drug war
28 Oct: An unusually animated speech by Perry in New Hampshire prompts him to deny speculation he was drunk or on medication
10 Nov: In a debate, Perry can't remember the name of a third government department he would eliminate if elected
29 Nov: Mistakenly refers to the minimum voting age as 21 (it's 18)
6 Dec: Is fiercely criticised for a campaign ad attacking gays in the military and claiming children can't celebrate Christmas
8 Dec: Corrects himself after saying US had been at war in Iran, rather than Iraq
9 Dec: Says eight justices sit on the Supreme Court (the number is nine)
3 Jan: Reconsiders campaign after flop in Iowa, only to change his mind, distributing a photo of himself in athletic attire, giving a thumb-up
11 Jan: Attacks Romney as a "vulture" capitalist, provoking conservative outcry that he should not criticise the free-market system
16 Jan: His remark in a TV debate that Turkey is ruled by "Islamic terrorists" is seen as yet another gaffe
lol
