It is pretty unfair to blame it solely on media. Even before television, many cultures favored men over women in places of political positions, jobs, and other roles. Many religions reinforce this as well. Not to mention, both men and women themselves reinforces this as well.

On average people watch 31 hours of TV per week?
I don't think so. TV is dead.

To you, maybe. Real media watchers multi-task. I watch TV while on the internet all week

Just reading the title I instantly thought of this:

She better hope they only aim for her arm.
Just because media didn't start something, doesn't mean it's helping make things better sometimes.

In most music videos, men are portrayed as a very powerful person. They are rich, they have power and they have a harem full of girls. On the other hand, girls are often portrayed as sex-crazed nymphomaniacs. They can’t live without men. Their only desire is to satisfy their man. Women in music videos are often portrayed as physical attractive girls who barely wear any clothes. It’s as if they don’t have a mind of their person. As if they are not even human, they are just tools for pleasure. Some people can’t differentiate between reality and fantasies. Because of these music videos, some men think that it’s okay to do whatever you want to women.
People need to know that there is a thin line between fantasy and reality. Women are not sexual deviants that will do anything men wants. They have a personality, emotions and a mind of their own. Don't get me wrong, it isn't wrong to use sex in the industry. It's about how negatively women are depicted in these videos.

tru dat.
What's also funny is the whole 'sex in the industry' thing seems to assume women willingly have sex to get everywhere in life. Sometimes, men force women to give them sex otherwise they will not only not advance, they may also be fired. This applies to many situations.
And given how the world thinks, if you happen to give in, you're automatically labeled a whore regardless of the severity of the situation.
It's funny how little people realize how much women still have to go through and are quick to judge.
