You know, for such a perverted culture such as japan, they have some serious population problems.

their culture's not really perverted
the majority of Japanese people are conservative, including the young adults
also, the modern culture and living costs in Japan discourages having children and marriage
also adding on to this
Shounen Jump is becoming digital either this year or next year

Japan really isn't all that weird anyways. America (and some of Europe) is far more perverse as a whole. Japan just seems that way because they're into things most western cultures aren't.

If there's already few official translators on the US, in europe its even worse. All manga here (the few that exist) is imported from the US
And funny thing, people know what manga is and like the art and, at least on my country, most anime that airs is with the original audio and not dubbed or censored like it happens in the US. Just the publishers don't care and don't import anything

Perhaps the reason Manga and Anime in the US is dying out so quickly is because they still treat it like its for small children.
It doesnt matter how bloody a show is or how much its blatently obvious its not for small children. Even if the show shows the person VIOLENTLY STABBING THEMSELVES its still marketed on disney in the middle of the day between other childrens shows. They just remove the blood and make ever reference to it "DNA".
As long as publishers continue to release low quality, censored works, no one is going to buy from them.
And in japan, the digital age is just meaning the downfall of publishers as independent developers create there own content and publish it online for cheaper and oftentimes more interesting ideas. Without all the money involved the content is often more exciting and interesting and creative, which means it sells just as well or better than others.
it seems like the same thing is happening to game companies. People are getting tired of the same formula released by big companies so they go online for more interesting stuff made by small groups that take more risks and create interesting games that are more creative and fun.

This. I want the original work, not some censored, edited bull****. I would also prefer to have it in the original language with subtitles added, they usually don't go the extra mile and hire decent voice actors for other languages. Every single anime that I have watched, any dubbed voice acting was absolutely horrid. Give me that, and provided I have the money, I would gladly purchase the anime that I like to watch. I would purchase manga too, but good luck finding that in the United States. I suppose I could purchase online (if I can even find a site that accepts USD), but I don't own a credit card and I don't like using my parent's, even if I have the money to give to them for it.

I was sad when Borders went down. That's where I got most of my manga. Their manga section had actually gotten bigger in the last couple of years, at least at the one closest to my house. B&N on the other hand, has a significantly smaller manga section that it used to. It's really saddening to see. While I do read manga online, it tends to be manga I can't get here yet. I still prefer the feel of a book in my hand.

Japanese anime/manga >>>>> American anime/manga
I'd read/watch the Japanese original any day of the week. As long as there are subs. I rely on English translated Manga :/
