So as I'm ranking up refining, I have all these plates just lying in my inventory/bank. Is it worth it to keep or sell them, or should I just toss them?

I depends on whether or not you plan on ranking the blacksmith skill. If you do, it would be in you best interest to hold onto those plates since your gonna need a lot of them to finish ranking blacksmithing to rank 1. If you don't really care, then just go ahead and sell them to other players.

Just don't NPC them, you won't get that much from it (unless you really don't care).

I mailed all my plates to a mule, now the inbox of my giant is like 48/30
