Any way to get decent defense for a poor Sword Lann?

  First of all, Rank 9 scrolls are out of the question. They blow up. I'm poor and can't afford to blow them up. I have around 3 million right now at level 67 because I spent 10 million on a pair of Twin Sabers and I do NOT regret the purchase.
  
  That said, I need to work on my defense now. I have the typical 3 BH 2 Swift combo. My accessories are Rochest Magician Seal, Warrior's Courage stuff, Irukul Belt, and nose ring from the Yeti.
  
  My level 67 gift from the cat failed.
  
  So what can I do to buff up my defense without the R9 enchant scrolls? I mean, I'm not looking for miracles, just maybe hit 6/7k defense? I already have defense mastery maxed.

  Use the Stone enchant which is rA, it gives a CHANCE to activate a buff for 3000 defense. Then put Rounded, rA, on all your gear, that helps too.
  
  Skill-wise, rank Agility mastery and Plate/Heavy armor proficiency as much as possible.

  Which swift pieces are you wearing? Swift gloves and boots are heavy armors, so those give you a defense boost.

  Ghostly Ring, Solid Thor leather belt, Warrior's courage emblem+ring, Sarghamiu Nose ring. You can try putting Berserk (r9 but acts as rA, will NOT blow up stuff) on your accessories, +30 att/matt and stam recovery buff.

  As mentioned before, you should really try to upgrade your Irukul accessories to Thor accessories. A Thor Leather Belt should only cost about 1m-2m to make, so it's a very affordable upgrade. For the ring, you either want a Ghostly Ring or an Ocean's Embrace, however both of these are very costly. You should probably just hope for a Ghostly Ring drop.
  
  For accessory enchants, I'd only do this for the Warrior's Courage set and the Nose Ring. Don't bother with the Irukul accessories until you upgrade them.
  
  You should consider selling your Lv. 68 and 69 enchant scrolls on the forums. I think that should be enough to get about 30m-40m. I think Healthy (the Lv. 67 enchant) goes for about 5m-10m, I forget. Either way, you should have enough to afford 3-5 of them. Now the important thing about the Lv. 66-69 scrolls are that the % success rate is equal to the Brynns you get during the minigame. What this means is that 99/100 Br will give you a 99% success rate. If you spend about 1m on Elixirs, you can easily get 95%+ on a scroll.
  
  With those 5 Healthy enchants, you should have an additional 650 Def. You could go with 5 Passions which would give you 1000 Def, but that costs a lot more.
  
  At this point, there isn't much else you can do cheaply. Make sure all your armor is +5/+6 (if you feel a bit lucky). Stone, as Marene mentioned, is a great emergency Def boost.

  Yeah, I wasn't sure if Stone was worth it, but 3000 extra defense for 60 seconds isn't too bad.

  Well, the important part is that Stone counts for the hit that activates it. While Lann isn't like Fiona or Karok, who can trigger Stone off a Absorb Shock/Block, he can still get some use by having it activate on a potentially fatal hit.
  
  It's pretty cheap for what it does, which is more important with your current situation.
