Let's face it, sometimes a thread turns into an argument and mods are forced to close it, ruining the original thread. I honestly would like to see an argument section, or a possible argument section. Because most of the time, I wanna finish these conversations instead of just letting it hanging.

I don't think this is a good idea. It's basically asking for something to get out of hand if they already do get out of hand.

We already had a debate section, which was used much less than anticipated. It got added into some other section.

We don't close threads because there are arguments going on in it. They get closed because people don't know how to do so civilly and end up insulting others, and often times, over things that aren't even related to the topic at all. Having a section based solely on arguing will only cause more problems later on. If you really want to continue on with your argument after a thread has been closed, do so through private messages. Chances are, if you must continue on an argument after the thread in which you were arguing was closed, then it's probably because either you or the person you were arguing with was hurling insults and made the thread locked up. So that's up to you.
However, if you want a debate section, which isn't necessarily a section for arguing, but a way to present ideas to someone with an opposing idea, then that suggestion would be fine... if it weren't for the fact that, like Skye said, it got merged into Everything Else, because nobody used that section. After the first month or so, the hype for that section died down, and we just got rid of it [s]which I think the food section is going to end up soon, since again, a lot of hype and people asking for it, then it becomes a section that rarely gets posted in. It's sad when the only real active thread in that section is one meant more for Bean Rua than an actual section.[/s]

Pretty much this.
Although if your talking about an academic argument (a debate), so long as both sides were respectful and following the rules - I would not think there wouldn't be a need to close it. That and if the debate wasn't completely de-railing the thread and was off topic D:
If you
really wanted to just have a debate on a particular subject, try the "Everything Else" section.
Although .... I'd be a bit cautious that. I like my debates and discussing both sides to a topic since knowledge is always nice, but I can assure you that debates
never go as how you planned them. It only takes one particular comment or jab and everything goes downhill -.-
Thankfully, thanks to the whole new rule-overhaul and the fact it wouldn't be in Bean Rua - people would/should act modestly. If anyone you feel was acting out of hand, that's why there's the report post button :awesome:

Yeah, I don't think an argument section is a good idea. A majority of people here don't know how to contain themselves when it comes to it, and it usually just ends up as someone trolling an opposite argument for "fun". I've noticed a lot of people on this site will never change their opinions on certain subjects, or AT LEAST acknowledge the other side so I also think it would just lead to people being angrier with one another.
Anyway, Arsik pretty much said what I think about it as well.

No point, we're all too immature and ignorant.

Basically this and most of what else what stated.
There's a reason arguments aren't really allowed here, and not because of the argument itself, but rather the people.

The debate section was fun while it lasted. I'm always too tired for debates, and end up forgetting about em. Dx
Oh god, those religion debates though. Good times.

Some people cannot be trusted to debate. Arguments and debates are not always the same thing, either, depending on the argument...
