President Obama once said he wants everyone in America to go to college. What a snob . There are good decent men and women who go out and work hard every day and put their skills to test that aren't taught by some liberal college professor, and try to indoctrinate them . Oh I understand why he wants to you to go to college. He wants to remake you in his image. I want to create jobs so people can remake their children into their image, not his.
Funny enough Rick Santorum has attended a few
universities himself.
One part of me should not be surprised as this is the same guy who believes that:
A daughter who got raped is a gift from God
Women are too emotional in the military

Wanting a good education makes you a snob? Good golly, that makes sense!
The only decent point he makes is that you don't need a 'proper' education to be a hard-working, decent or even intelligent person. But the rest is typical bullshit as usual.

Rick Santorium is a snob. Therefore, his statement must be true... when only applied to himself.

Way to fail at taking things in proper context. He was merely replying to Obama's statement where he said that if people want to end America's high unemployment rate, they should all get university education. Santorum's reply was that Obama's implication that those without higher education can't expect to find work like they used to is snobbery.
I personally agree with Obama's view--the world changes, and these days you need higher education to get a decent job. But that doesn't mean that Santorum's criticism of such a view is without basis.

People typically don't say things without some sort basis or logical reasoning.
Although, after seeing
thread after thread bringing Rick Santorum in a negative light (even though supporting [S]Ron Paul[/S] other presidential candidates is apparently not okay) - I really begin to wonder if this Rick Santorum guy isn't just crazy or desperate.
That wasn't a jab at the OP or anything, just a general observation on my part.
I can
somewhat relate to his statements and beliefs, but things like this make me go ...
"Ah. Ouch. Did he really just say that?" or "Did I really just watch that video?" :fail3:

people say college is a waste of money
that would be true if you end up as a manual worker
but it's not true if a lot of people have a degree
then again, only 25% of the American population have at least a bachelor's
and the Los Angeles School district has a 50% high school graduation rate

That's because the other 50% are too busy being famous and realized that education was ruining their image.
Honestly though, I completely disagree with the title question. Being educated doesn't make you a snob, just as owning a chef knife doesn't make you a serial killer (nor a chef). It's how you use your education that determines whether or not you're a snob.

Well, the OP screwed up with the title because that's not even what Rick Santorum states in the video. There's a difference between:
"Obama is a snob for saying everyone should go to college [if they want to become successful]," and
"Santorum says that getting a higher education means you're a snob."
srsly.. :v

Well, I don't even agree with the first quoted statement there
Obama is a snob for saying everyone should go to college [if they want to become successful]
Saying that people should go to college if they want to be financially* successful makes sense to me. It has nothing to do with one group thinking they are better than another. There is a significant difference to what a college graduate is paid compared to a high school graduate.
The guy cooking your fast food burger could be a genius, but if they don't have anything compelling (to employers) to put on their resume, then they'll have a harder time in the job market. More often than not, the higher paying jobs require a college degree before they'll even look at an applicant.
* I believe this is what Obama meant to say. There is not a single measure one can look at to determine how successful a person is, because there are many independent ways in which a person can be considered successful. Also, how a person views themselves as successful depends entirely on what they were aiming for to begin with.

Oh, I totally don't disagree with what Obama said--this is why I got a university education, myself.
But on the other hand, there are a lot (yeah, there used to be more) of manufacturing jobs in the US where you could get very good pay, without a university education. You don't even need one to become a police officer in the US. O_o You could open your own business, too. Or you could go into skilled trades, etc. You do have better chances on average with a university education (provided you don't major in a useless field), but at the same time, you're not limited to burger flipping if you don't have one.
So Santorum's remark is far from baseless.

Agreed

That would depend a lot on exactly what Obama said. I'd like to see the quote before I can agree with this. At any rate, saying someone is a snob is telling others what someone else thinks/views. There's always a chance that your mind-reading skills weren't sufficient.
