Battle.net - English Forums -> Battle.net Update: Upcoming Changes to Forums
>The first and most significant change is that in the near future, anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID -- that is, their real-life first and last name -- with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it.
So basically if you gank someone ingame they can find out your real address now if you post on the forums.
Well done Blizzard.

Wow and knowing that there r a good handful of FREAKS who play that game, primarily the people who react dramatically to their subscription suspension.... I'd be scared lol.

Real ID is a completely voluntary and optional level of identity that keeps players connected across all of Battle.net. When you and a friend mutually agree to become Real ID friends, you'll have access to a number of additional features that will enrich your social gaming experience in new and exciting ways.
Source.
[s]It's optional, and just for convenience.[/s]
That's just for in-game. The forum is mandatory.

I would never use a forum if it involved every creepy fuktard being able to see my real name.

Blizzard trolling.
Even places like Facebook and Myspace doesn't require your real name.
I don't understand what they could possibly get out of this, other than maybe a bunch of bs from the fans and less money.

I've never played WoW but if I ever did, I would definitely stop using the forums.
Why, Blizzard, why are you doing this? There has GOT to be a better way to deal with trolls.
Edit: The in-game stuff sounds like it would actually be kinda nice for people that play with people they actually know irl. But the forums are dead.
