Does this prove that anything is possible?
2 years is a long journey.
Like I said, just incredibly improbable. Not impossible.
I think I'll start listing off why one by one since some people don't seem to go any further than "thats cute", which disturbs me as this entire story in general is disturbing.
1. Cat decides to run away and look for their master. The very idea that he knew his owners had moved far away is pretty strange, and "setting out on a journey" is a concept that animals don't do unless they're the constant wandering type (which cats aren't).
2. Cat managed to find a supply of food. HOW and WHERE. Its hard enough for stray cats, how did a house cat do it? Even if they're excelled in the physical department finding enough food, especially during the winter, would be near impossible for a cat that wasn't taught how.
3. The Cat didn't have any support. Despite popular belief, cats can't talk with each other (unless raised together to learn each other's gestures and vocal messages), and they won't help each other unless they are familiar with each other. This cat was alone.
4. There are plenty of wild animals that want to eat cats. How this cat managed to survive is beyond me.
5. Winters. How did it survive? Especially in Uzbekistan to Russia.
6. Road kill. Probability: very high.
7. 2000 miles covered: Unheard of for a cat.
8. General direction. There are 360 degrees of direction a cat could take to reach his destination, and he knew exactly where to go. The general direction might've been given off by scent, but that could probably only put him on a track that narrows it down by an angle that could easily lead him hundreds of miles off. People are saying he followed a scent as an explanation. Scent wears off from objects shortly interacted with within a few days. Even a dog, who has a stronger nose than a cat, can't pick up the trail of a person if they have passed through a week ago. Since it took the cat 2 years go arrive at his destination, he definitely lost track of the scent very early in his journy, and probably picked it back up at the very end to pin point the exact house.
9. The average cat sleeps over 14 hours a day. There is no possible way he had time to travel, hunt food, and find proper shelter every single day of his travels and still make it in 2 years. Its actually faster than a cat should be able to do it.
If this cat is really the same cat the family owned, then they need to study it. He's on a complete genius level for a cat. Any other cat, no matter how motivated, could not actually pull off tracking the family, with all the time in the world. He HAD to have used some sort of strategy, one that even we can't figure out and are baffled by.
