Character screen won't load?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

Okay, I tried getting on today, but the character selection screen won't load. The music for it plays, but I'm stuck on the log-in screen with the "logging in..." window. The actual selection screen won't load.

EDIT: okay, I restarted the client a couple of times and the character screen finally DID load, but after all the textures fully loaded, it looked like this and then froze:

How long you waited? Is your camera just at a weird angle? Where was the character at?

Try a different computer as well.

I waited five minutes and it usually loads right after I log in.
I can't try a different computer since this is the only one I have.

EDIT: that one time was the only time the character screen actually loaded. I've tried a couple more times and I just get stuck at the title screen again.

Taking somewhat of a guess, but did you touch anything in your cache folder?

I have this same problem. It seems to be connected to people not being able to make it into Tara. I do used to bale to shrink the window realy small and load fine, but now I will not.

A couple of things to try:
Make a back up copy of your cache in mydocs/mabi/, then delete the files in your cache.
Try logging into a mule, if it works, pull your network cable to force a D/C, and then relog back in using your main.
