My mom called me today and said that it randomly shuts off. Later she called my dad and said that it wouldn't boot up. :(

Luckily I was planning on buying a desktop anyway. Does anyone have a reccomended computer? Mainly I want to be playing Spore and the Sims 3, as well as casual computer stuff and a bit of casual video editing.

So does anyone have any reccomended parts or pre-built computers?

BTW, my budgetis around $1000. And I want a desktop so my mom will be less likely to want to use it.

Thats what I was thinking.

Also, my computer is fine apperently. I went home and plugged it right in and it worked fine. My mom was probably using cheap extention cords.

And yes, I still wanna get a new computer.

Go into your BIOS and put a boot password.
They're ridiculously easy to get rid of, but it will deter most technologically challenged parents.

My mom will call me on my phone when I'm on the other side of the house and force me to let her use it.

Also, something is wrong. It's plugged into the wall and won't power on. The battery is removed and it won't take a charge anyway. ã€’~ã€’

I highly recommend you build your own computer. It will save you a lot of money. Also it is relatively simple to do, and there is a great deal of guides out there online on how to assemble a computer

I say, buy your parts from Newegg.com. And if you aren't sure what parts will work with what, head over to the DIY Pc Combo tab, where you can get multiple computer parts at a discounted bundle price. For example, This is what the kits are like.

For comparision on the amout of money saved, My computer, which is about on par with This only cost me around $850, and that was with everything, not excluding a monitor or keyboard/mouse. Not to mention I have Win7, and not Vista.

So if you are going to buy a computer, you should always build it your self. Could save a lot of money. Although, if your not very tech savvy, that might be a problem.

No it dosen't. This laptop can run on either the battery or the cord, or both.
