Is there a way to fix my gameboy yellow cartridge?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. I tried cleaning the inside with a cue tip and nothing seems wrong on the outside but it only goes to where it says
"Gameboy
Nintendo"
and then it's blank after that ):

As far as I remember old cardtridge had battery in them. If your game is really old and it doesn't work it's probably the battery.

I thought that only was for saving?
and if it were the battery wouldn't it not load up at all
like when you put in a game and start the gameboy is different then if you just try to start the gameboy without a game
