What is your opinion on the Selective Service System?
For those who don't know what it is, read

I just got this a few weeks ago in the mail since I have turned 18 not long ago.
I don't really like it much seems like it forcing you to join an army but hey if the nation is in crisis there not much to argue about.

Meh, U.S. military doesn't need a draft nowadays, so I suppose there isn't much to worry about.

It's a last-case measure, I feel like. I'm not worried about it, and signed up when I was 18 so I could get the college moneys.

Looks like it won't affect me whatsoever.

Haha, they mailed me a notification after I tried to get in the Navy a year ago.
I guess it really is a "last-case measure"

It's an emergency measure. A la when enemy troops actually within reach of your home.
If you're going to defend, you might as well do it with the military's guns and tanks.

I didn't even know this existed..
Good to know the military is still stuck in the 1930's when it comes to making unwilling men sign up to fight.
Sheesh.

1930's? The US wasn't in the war at that time ._.

Sheesh.
War was in the mid 10's and 40's!
I don't particularly find anything wrong with this. After all, if the US is in quite a serious threat, why the hell not? I doubt we'll have any serious war like that anytime in our lifetime anyway. The only thing we need to worry about currently is North Korea, and that's not much.

Nations have rarely been in crisis as far as the "threat" of conquest is concerned,
states however do.
I mean it's not like the Huns are going to overrun you and kill everyone in sight.

I don't like it, but I guess I'm slightly biased by being a US male between 18 and 25, ahaha.

I don't see why the country needs you to sign up for the draft anymore, considering that we pretty much got rid of it after Vietnam, and if we do have to go to war, able men are going regardless if they signed up for the draft or not, what with the country being under martial law.
