  Just as an easy guess off the top of my head, Angels, who were made from flame and so mighty they could easily best an army of over 100,000 men single handedly, were suddenly told to bow down before man, who was made of clay, who is also stupid and weak.
  
  Pretty easy really... tired of all the bowing and groveling they were forced to do by the tyrannical regime in power. Not to mention the absurd old covenant laws which they probably have even more extreme variants of that they have to obey, on top of not even having something as small as, oh I don't know... free will. I mean, that's a big one.

  My version was extremely similar, though in mine, Lucifer also flipped his shit when God demanded that the Angels love Humans as they love God.
  Lucifer, combined with everything mentioned in TA's post, basically said screw it and rebelled.
  
  Either way, he either did it out of hate. The only question is what kind.
