Mabination Banner Contest

  One of the biggest steps left to switch forum software is a new design. The current banner is as old as Nation itself, so exactly 2 years old in about a week or so.
  
  If you have what it takes to design & create a new banner then this is the perfect event for you. If you're artistically challenged but have some good ideas, maybe you can find someone willing to work with you and split the prize.
  
  I'll be deciding the winner myself based on what I think both looks best, and can be worked well into the new forum. If I can't decide then I will put the ones I can't decide on into a poll.
  
  [SIZE="3"]Rules[/SIZE]
  1) Follow the criteria listed bellow
  2) PM me the banner before the deadline
  3) Do not publicly post the banner (for 2 reasons: not to discourage non-professionals, in case of a poll to avoid popularity contests)
  4) Don't go too risky/ecchi and/or violent on any characters drawn. Keep it SFW.
  5) Anyone can enter even if they join right now.
  6) You can create and submit as many banners as you want.

  50$ (US) available via paypal, or if you don't have paypal, 50$ of Steam games
  
  [SIZE="3"]The Banner[/SIZE]
  The banner would need to match these criteria:
  

  
  
  • Dimensions: 950 to 1000 pixels wide, 150 to 200 pixels tall (try to keep it rounded to 5's or 10's)
    
  • The images must be designed in such a way that cropping them slightly will not ruin it, in case of last minute changes.
    
  • The font is up to you as long as it looks mabinogi-ish and is big enough for a banner.
    
  • The current foresty-green color doesn't need to be dominant, but should be included in a reasonably noticeable way.
    
  • Work with layers. Even if your banner is awesome, if it's only one image then I can't work with it. Ideally it would be a .psd with layers, if you don't have photoshop (or something that works with layers) then you can save a transparent .png of each layer and put it in a zip (make sure to label the layers in order)
    
  • Do not make any characters in the foreground of the banner be "permanent", meaning if they are removed, the image is complete behind them and not a missing space. This is so other characters can be overlayed if needed in the future.
    
  • Try to keep the choice of colors light/friendly looking, does not have to be bright. Pastel colors are a good example. Nothing too dark. I don't want a black/grey emo forum.

  There's no huge rush for this, but the sooner I have the banner the sooner I can do the rest of the layout (banner pretty much decides the rest of it). [S]For now I'll put about 1 month[/S], so the deadline is:

  The current banner is made up of 2 images, 1 background spanning the entire top of the page, 1 foreground text-only image people can click on:

  I don't remember the name of the font for "nation", but if you're trying to match the "mabinogi" style, you might find something on http://www.dafont.com under "celctic". The "Mabinogi" font isn't a font, it's an image I cleaned up form official art.
