I would just like your opinions on adding watermarks to images

Don't. That's all the advice I can give.

As long as it isn't super obnoxious/in the way, I don't care. People are smart for wanting to mark their shit so it doesn't get stolen.

Yes.
but like August said, don't do it where it's like BOOM watermark in your face
also, I like to make it like transparentish? in a place where no one could cut off or else it would fuck of the picture

Normally like sticking a logo or signature somewhere near the image, or put a hidden signature somewhere in the work. Never place it at the corner due to it being chopped off easily

It can really ruin an image and is probably easy to shop out anyways.

yup
I don't like them much but if I were really into art and posted my work online, I'd probably use them anyway

I forgot to add, also what would you use for watermarking if you do it
a symbol, your real name? or username? etc
-
Cynic wrote on 2012-03-22 00:35
I usually do the generic "(c) *insert username here*" stuff in the middle of my pictures. I use a low enough opacity that it doesn't distract you from the actual picture, but visible enough that you can see it.
It's pretty easy to remove but effective enough I guess. I dunno who'd want to steal my shit anyways.

Best you can do is upload as small resolution as possible so that it's not easy to steal, then put the watermark somewhere that doesn't kill your picture. It's kind of a bummer to have to upload things with a bit less detail but it's that or risk having it stolen. Even at smaller resolutions it could get stolen. x.x

oh yeah that's what I do, I mean I'm not that great so I don't expect thieves either but I'd still like to take some procautions
edit: so do you guys add your names/usernames with text or handwritten?

Text because I haven't created a hand-written distinct signature yet, though I should...What I have is a logo but I haven't started using it yet because I'm building the website first. It would be weird to have a watermark that points to a website that doesn't exist (design-wise, I already own the domain).
