A husband has left his partner in shock after he went ahead with plans to name their new baby after Lady GaGa.
Dad-of-three Ian Clark told Melanie Robinson of the idea during her pregnancy after his step-daughter made the suggestion, reports Chronicle Live.
The new arrival, now 12 days old, has been officially named Meggie Maisie Lady GaGa.
"I can't believe he actually went ahead and did it. Ian thought it was a really good idea but I told him no way," Robinson said. "It's still strange to look at the birth certificate now. Everybody keeps asking to have a look at it because they don't believe he went and did it.
"But the more someone tells Ian he shouldn't do it, the more he wants to. I'm still in shock now."
Clark revealed that the registrar gave "us a few funny looks" and made sure the couple did not want to change the name.
The new dad added: "When I asked the children what we should call the new baby, Maddy said we should call her Lady GaGa. I just thought it was a great name and I'm sure the bairn will find it funny when she's older.
"But people were saying Meggie was an old-fashioned name so I thought Lady GaGa was different."
Clark's sister has already promised to help her niece change the name if she wants to when she is old enough.

lol
the husband named the baby without the wife's consent
How do humans change their name anyway?

Oh, she probably will change her name when she grows up.
Honestly though, people need to stop naming their baby insane things. You and the child will regret it later.

Her name COULD be worse.
To change your name you have to go through some long-ass process, wouldn't you? Plus be over 18.

"Us, the couple" would mean the wife was there. She obviously wasn't very opposed to it if she didn't say anything.
And it's not her first name. Middle names aren't commonly given out, so she can live a perfectly normal life as Meggie.
As far as I know, only legal documents and such actually require you to give out your entire full name. Just as long as she doesn't show anybody her driver's license.

Also, this reminds me of the kid who was named after Hitler. At least this is better than that.

That's a great name for a child, not really.
She'll probably get bullied a little for her name :/...

They could have at least called her Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (Lady Gaga's real name) or bits of it lol

Well, it's not too bad, by the time the kid reaches middle school Lady GaGa would probably be forgotten, so the kid might not get bullied too much

I think Hitler might have caused less pain and suffering so I'm not sure.

If Lady (sir?) Gaga was named Lady Gaga, then this kid can be named Lady Gaga too!

My thought when I read the topic name: Shoot me in the face. Now.
Anyway, personally, I would've named her Ameinishiel Oroo Shiranah (Insert my last name here). Btw, it's A-mei-nis-hiel. Not A-mein-shiel. Her nickname would be Ame or Amy. Ame is pronounced like Ah-me.
