And it's ability to do anything decent with Mabinogi. I'm wondering if, despite all the tweaks a certain someone made to it, I should quit Mabinogi until I get a better computer. And I'd like a serious response please - I seem to attract trolls and I fear that this thread will be no exception.
Here are my specs, if anyone is curious:
AMD Athlon 2650e 1.61Ghz (Socket Type is AM2)
nVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 512 MB
150 GB (currently has 121 GB of free space)
2GB DDR2 RAM (no more slots left, sadly)
Computer type is eMachines, Model is EL1200-01e
Has an ACER BIOS, and the OS I got with it has Norton preloaded (took a crapton of work to get it removed).
Windows XP SP3 32-bit
It's a miracle I can even log into Mabinogi (or so I'm told), but... realistically, should I quit over the crappy performance I seem to be getting from this thing? I seem to think that this is what's responsible for the shoddy execution I get in-game from my actual combat and life skill performance.
My birthday's coming up, sure, but I don't think I'll be getting any computer parts from anyone who gives a damn, so I'm wondering if I should make do with what I have, or quit.
And really... just tell me how you think this computer fares with Mabinogi!

That cpu...makes me cry D:
I'd say 25 frames at max? :P

That's at bare minimum settings. It can get worse if more people are around. And Tara... don't even get me started. Even on minimum, there's only a 1 in 5 chance I'll make it through the performance loading tension as it is now. Nexon says they're fixing it, but I'll have to wait till after maint to get results.
The core's a AM2 socket, btw. But that makes no diff, since none of the parts can be swapped or traded, except the RAM. And it will never go past 3GB of RAM at any one time, due to it being a 32-bit system.
Sucks, yeah, but it's all I've got. I'm trying to save, but it would take me a year at most to build up enough, since a standard atypical PC for today's age is the equivalent of one month's pay. I have to make it last until my birthday, and hope my mother helps me out on that - otherwise I'm screwed.
EDIT - FYI, minimum resolution is 800x600, and that's what I have it set at. So it gets 30 max, on a really good area. Anything else? 25 is where it falls.

I'm running an even worse machine.
Honestly, I have no real complaints. I die probably more often than I should, but Mabi is still perfectly playable. I do use graphic-reducing mods, though, but my lag is a mix of latency and graphics, mostly the former.
I'd say don't quit just because your rig stinks. I just avoid Tara and sometimes Taill like the plague.

Hows the lag now? I heard tara/tail was fixed so keep me updated if your machine can run it!

Gamebooster can't change preexisting hardware capabilities so he's out of luck there. And I know if I was struggling to run Mabinogi in the first place, the first place I'd clean is background processes and services so he has probably done that. All he can do is get a new machine, there's no sense upgrading an e-machine in the first place.
