I've always wondered why this didn't exist.
Thats a lot of ignoring...
I might just be saying this because of how I'm feeling right now, but I don't necessarily think this is perhaps a good thing to do ...
Humans beings can at times be subject to intense emotions. If a button like this existed, a person might place someone on the ignore list simply due to having an emotional outburst and the person was being blocked is simply a scapegoat.
The ignore function already exists, and you did an excellent guide explaining it. It's not all that difficult. Even though I don't fully agree with the ignore system, I can recognize it's usefulness.
However, if a button is created - that whole process is simply side-stepped. What I'm trying to say is that, with our current ignore list process - you have to take time navigating towards the settings and writing down the username. During this time, a person can "cool down" and perhaps think as to whether or not that said person truly belongs in the ignore list.
I'm basically arguing against being able to ignore a user with the click of a button. When given such a simple option, more people could be placed on the ignore list than necessary - simply due to a person's feelings at the time.
There's also stuff like a mis-click and people forgetting who they have placed on the ignore list. It would be a lot easier to forget about an ignored person if you just clicked a button, rather than actually typing their name out and navigating through the settings.
I hope this makes sense. Just my 2 cents.
... you can easily un-ignore a person. It isn't a permanent setting. Additionally, unless you check the "advanced mode" on your settings menu, you can easily unignore a user as well from the "shield..."
Well yes. I am aware of the fact you can un-ignore a person. Heh heh.
My point was whether or not a person would remember to do as such. If you clicked on a person and hit an "ignore button" due to whatever reason, chances are you probably would forget you even had that person on ignore.
Because, who checks their ignore list on a daily basis?
You might only take notice when you realize, "Hey. So-and-so hasn't posted in a while."
But then, that might be shaken off as inactivity on their part.
Again, just a thought that crossed my mind.

... ah, yes.... :gloom:
//long day//
My apologies~...
I was going to say something, but I didn't want it to be taken the wrong way.
So, I'll just go with my real-life reaction:
It's been a long day for me too :p
But don't feel bad! You made an excellent point :)
I was just merely presenting what I thought. Please don't get the notion that I was annoyed or mad with you.
