Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum suspended his campaign on Tuesday, clearing Mitt Romney’s path to the Republican presidential nomination.
Citing weekend reflection with his family, prompted in part by a hospital stay for his youngest daughter, Santorum suspended his campaign, effective today.

Ah, that's too bad. While I personally didn't agree with everything in his campaign, I did like the way he decided to take on the super-funded heavyweights like Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, using money very efficiently. Ended up pwning Gingrich, too.
I hope his daughter will be okay.

Whoever planned his campaign's a retard
Only a moderate can win the Presidential election
not an extremist
regardless of whether you're right or wrong

But the general election didn't take place yet. The current competition was for the party nomination, where it would have made no sense to have Romney and Santorum both run as moderates. Santorum would have gotten owned right away. They had to target different groups. Had Santorum defeated Romney, you can rest assured that he'd adjust his campaign to target the independents in addition to the more conservative voters. It's little more than a strategy game, really--one which Santorum played well, despite the odds against him. :p

I'm glad he's out of the race, but I hope his daughter will be ok.

Praise the fucking lord, it must be my birthday.
I would assume it's because of his kid (or they finally realized what a retarded campaign they were running), but who knows. Hopefully the kid is fine but good riddance to frothy lube.

I resent the assumption that Mitt Romney is automatically going to win because Santorum's out. The media just likes to pretend Ron Paul doesn't exist.

...and by doing so, they ensure Romney's nomination. It's not automatic though. Ignoring someone entirely takes a lot of effort.

Even if the media gave him enough time to shine, the people still don't care. I'm not sure why everyone blames the media when it's ultimately the people who make the decision whether or not to support him.

Oh, then I guess Bill Clinton couldn't win his party nomination while running as a moderate against Bush Sr. when it's only the primaries.
oh wait he did.
it's called modern election strategy
which Sanctorum failed because he can't shut up
and the criticisms snowballed hard
and made Ron Paul (a blabbering extremist) look sane
lots of the politically active people are paying attention to the Republican nomination because they realize Obama's not that liberal
only to find a group of clowns running to be nominated
and trust the cat
Sanctorum's says a lot of wrong things
