This is a pretty easy trick, but... I guess a lot of people probably don't know it. But... how to adjust your eyes from total darkness to a very bright environment quite suddenly, without that immense pain and the inability to open your eyes. It's real easy, takes about 5 seconds.
Just drape something over your head, with it dangling down to your tummy. The top shouldn't be letting in light, but the very bottom should, and just a little. Not letting light in, but showing the bright area that is outside. Just look down through this tunnel you've created down at the light, and it'll take about ~5 seconds and your eyes will be fully adjusted with no pain whatsoever. You can remove the (whatever it was) draped thing you had over your head, and you'll be fully adjusted to whatever bright environment you were in now.
It can be useful for any number of things... suddenly turning your light on after waking up in the middle of the night is a very useful thing, rather than having to walk around in the dark for some time before you adjust. Or maybe leaving a theater, or who knows...
Anyways, maybe it'll be useful to you sometime. Just a little trick I came up with years ago.

When I wake up in the middle of the night I leave one eye closed so it keeps my nightvision.

I remember that trick in middle school, fun stuff. Keep one eye exposed to the light and other in the dark.
I dont have problems in the morning since my blankets let through little light (always have my face covered when sleeping)

How interesting! I'll be sure to try this.

So, just take something like a towel and place it over your head - then follow your directions?
In your experience, does the actual article of whatever you put on your head matter - Or so long as it blocks light?

I would rather feel the pain than look around for a cloth in total darkness just so I can not feel pain in the light.

Blanket, robe, shirt, pretty much anything works.

This would be awesome, except that the only time I'm met with an unexpected blast of light, it comes without warning. Usually if someone wakes me up like that, I get a headache. People don't even knock. Ugh.
