As far as I know the enhancement rune only helps up to +10, after +10 is all luck right? So if fails the weapon will be destroyed?

Yep. +10 to +11 and onwards is the RNG. Failure will instantly destroy the weapon and leave you with a few mats.

It's why +15s cost so much.
