ive run a virus scan there is nothing
the hardrive just makes the normal derping loading sounds all computers makes but then it just does it for a very long period of time and restarts

Are you sure it's not overheating? I don't know much about computers, but I'm pretty sure something like that would cause it to restart or shut down completely.

No im not going to tell you how to do it, if you can't modify your bios in such easy thing its better you don't mess with it at all

Look at how high the temperature is by looking at the BIOS after it restarts.

seems to have sorted it self out after i pulled out the ram and shoved it back in with some brute force

Good to see that you solved the issue. :P For future reference, you can use
HWMonitor for checking temps.
SpeedFan is another popular tool. SpeedFan also lets you mess around with fan speeds, but I wouldn't recommend you do that unless you know what you're doing.
