If you ever experience the pain someone feels after someone really close to them died / took their own life you would know that faking your own death is a horrible idea.
But if you do it anyways just make sure not to fool those who care way to much about you.

I have no reason to fake my own death, so I can't really answer in that regard.
But otherwise I don't really care as long as it's not with the intention of acting like a douchenozzle. Then, obviously, you're a douchenozzle.

Did you seriously just say douchenozzle?
But really, faking your own death is just screaming "attention whore". I'm sure you don't wanna be one.

Absolutely not!
Death is a horrible thing, to fake it in order to just see people's reactions is simply cruel.
Whether it be in real life or over the internet, people are still people.
I personally would be very dismayed if I knew that a fellow forumer passed away. To then find out that it was purposely fake?
Needless to say, happiness would be the last emotion I would have.
^ Yeah that's my exact thoughts on it.

Well, call me crazy, but I don't condone lying over the internet, at all.
I hate when people lie over the internet as well, it's really ridiculous.

No it's not okay. It's never okay.

It's a stigma.
Myself, I wouldn't like it either.

I had a whole community of people who cared about me and I just used them like the puppets they are, I've seen real death countless times and it really stops being tramatic extremely fast.

How would you "fake your death" anyway? It's not like you could post about it, unless you pretend you got a terminal illness or post a "suicide" note. Either way, I don't think it's okay, and I'd never forgive you for it. Too many people do suffer from terminal illness or commit suicide for me to bother with people who might say, "I'm just fucking with you," about their own death.
bolded is my own opinion
and the only way to really fake it online is to pretend to be someone else that obtained access to that account to post information, OR just make a new account claiming to know the person and that they passed away, etc etc
I am however always curious to know who would grieve for me if I did die
I wouldn't fake it to find out though

anyway, lying isn't fly irl so i'm not sure why it would suddenly be online.
apparently people think not being face-to-face with those around you gives you permission to mistreat their feelings, as if they're not human at all. if someone did that to me i'd turn right around and tell them to go fuck themselves.

Yes, honesty is my preference over any medium as well. It wasn't until after I posted that I reread the OP and saw "over the internet" in parentheses.

Yeah same here.
But anyway, death is a really serious thing and it would be horrible for someone to joke about it. I am curious sometimes, like Seviraph said, but I would never do it. I know that it would make my friends really upset, and that's the last thing I'd ever want to do to them.

Just want to add I'd also do it in RL if I had the means to get away with it without being completely obvious.
