I've been hunting for the black and red leather long bow that can be fished on the fishing boat for a very long time. (A few months of on and off overnight afk fishing).
I'm starting to get a little discouraged. I've fished just about everything else out of the sea in that area, including the black and gold spaika set that I gave to my friend.
And then I've started to worry that maybe the bow did drop sometime overnight and landed on the ground, then the ground absorbed it without me knowing about it. D:
Has, uh, anybody else fished this bow before? Know how long an item of that value would stay on the ground at my fisher's feet? Tips and advice?
I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

What rank of fishing and what gear are you using?
Get rank 5+ of fishing and use item piecing rods and baits. You could be there for decades otherwise. The rate of catching it is very low much like the elusive shields from Uladh fishing. I have only ever seen 1 of the shield from Tir Chonaill fishing (gold rim red face kite).

Right now I'm on the verge of rank 7 fishing. Item piercing sounds like a good idea. Would it be easier for me to turbo charge handicrafts in order to make them or should I try buying them from a handicrafter? How much do you think is a good buying price for item piercing?
EDIT: I just looked up how to make the craft item. It doesn't seem too hard. I can get the tough thread easily enough from rafting and the other stuff from doing dungeons, but my crafting rank is C. I hear ranking it is a huge pain... :P

Yea just rank your handicraft to make them. The prices for them that i have seen are grossly overpriced imo (like 500k-1m).
Definitely don't bother fishing for any rare items until you have it and at least R5 fishing, it'll be very fruitless otherwise.

I heard it can only be fished on a Thursday.

Wuut where did you hear that?
Well, it'd be pretty damn hard to confirm anything with these % rates anyways.

Is that true?
Okay, so to make the item I'll need high handicrafting, which means I'll need to make tons of iron bars for wood boards. To make iron bars I'll need high blacksmithing, which means I need to pick up on refine and metallurgy and oh gods this is going to be a huge effort. @_@
It might be a little easier to gather the materials for item piercing and item illusion and bug an already established handicrafter to construct it for me.

Or you could just buy the item piercing and item illusion from someone who has it and doesn't want it. I have no idea how much they'd go for, but I can't imagine it being very expensive. Then again, I've never really triede to get it since it's easier to just buy those fished items from someone else, so what would I know.
I can relate to the way your feeling right now though. I've been hunting desert dragons for at least 3-4 months now hoping to get a pair of raccoon cub wizard suits for my male and female characters. While I'm not actively pursuing it, I do try to get on every Wednesday to see if I can get it, but so far I've been out of luck. I've gotten pretty much everything else you could get from hunting those dragons, including number ranked blacksmith scrolls, idol dresses, bianca drawers, and even a fully assembled dustin armor outfit with an extra pair of boots I sold to guy in Dunbarton.
From what I've seen, no matter what approach you take, it will always take some time (and an extreme amount of luck) before you get anything that is considered rare. So the only way to get these rare items is to just keep at it until you finally get the item you were seeking. Hope things work out for you

Wood Boards from the Tara Festival event.
If you can't get those, Barri Advanced and Castle dungeons have Iron Bar drops.
Yeah, welcome to the horror of Handicrafting: Iron Bars.

Smart Handicrafters would make Finest Arrows.
1 Bundle of Arrowheads (1 square) vs 2 Iron Bars (4 squares) and no need for Large Nails or Tough String.
Also I think you can use incomplete Arrowheads, similar to how you could use an incomplete Mythril Cable for the G3 Chain of Protection, but I'm not sure on that one.

Finest arrows would work for rC, but not rB, since you'd need to make r9 items.
