Well, the main use for it would be to buy Account Upgrades.

Upgrade User Account Lv.2

Upgrade your forum account. Includes larger PM inbox, 2 images in sig, 200KB sig image size instead of 100KB, and a permanent 5% discount on shop items. Account upgrades do NOT stack.

Upgrade User Account Lv.3

The ultimate upgrade to your forum account. Have avatars up to 120x120 pixels 100KB, 3 images in sig, 250 PM storage limit and send PMs to 5 people at once. Includes a permanent 15% discount on all shop items. You do not need to buy level 2 first. Account upgrades do NOT stack.

As you can see, there are some good perks that come along with upgrading your account. I would suggest saving your gold up till you can buy the Account Level 3.

There's also the no-ads upgrade.

You can buy fonts, font styles, and font colors, too, so that you don't have to keep typing in codes, and these are fairly cheap.
