Internet USB problems.

Right now im my computer (using my moms) I cant get my freaking netgear usb thingy to hook up. I can connect it to the PC but it wont connect to the internet. On the screen for the USB itll say that the USB is connected but the computer isnt hooked up to the internet. Its telling me my USB isnt installed right but I Unistalled and reinstalled like 7 times and im kinda fed up with it so tips anyone?
